Two middle names

What do people think about having two middle names?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

All 3 of my dc have two middle names.
Fine with the first two as I had names I wanted to use. Third child was a total surprise so I struggled with her first name let alone another two for middle names

Taylor22 · 23/10/2018 21:29

Both of mine have two middle names. Never been an issue and they can always leave one out as they get older.

needsanewname · 23/10/2018 21:30

I have three middle names! Although I wouldn't recommend that but I think two is fine, I wanted 3 for DD but DH was having none of it.

GemmaB78 · 23/10/2018 21:32

Our DS has 2 middle names. We couldn't narrow down our shortlist of 3 so kept all of them.

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 23/10/2018 21:32

DS2 has 2 middle names, one goes with his first name as he's named after someone and the other is after his paternal DGF.

BikeRunSki · 23/10/2018 21:33

Me, my siblings and my children all have 2 middle names. It’s fine, in fact I rather like it. But we all have reasons - family history or geography - for all the names, rather than them just sounding nice together (mine don’t really gel, but I love the reasons why I have them; the DC’s sound much nicer).

Snipples · 23/10/2018 21:48

My DD has two middle names and I will do the same for any future children.

RoseMartha · 23/10/2018 21:49

Go for it

RavenWings · 23/10/2018 21:57

I think it's fine. I used to know someone with 8 middle names though, that was too much!

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/10/2018 21:59

DH and DS both have 2 middle names. DH uses one of his middle names as his preferred names

Isittimeforbed · 23/10/2018 21:59

I have 2 middle names and so do all my children. I find the second one gets missed out on official documents quite a lot, so as the middle names I've chosen for my kids all have a meaning I've put the one that's most important to me first rather than considering the 'flow' IYSWIM

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 23/10/2018 22:00

Some of our friends have called their new baby about 5 names. None of which are "run of the mill" - slightly ott imo as when is the child ever going to use them all?!
2 middle names doesn't seem so bad Smile

chipsandgin · 23/10/2018 22:06

I’ve got two, DH has two & everyone in my family & his has two & my kids have two - I didn’t really think about it very deeply, just assumed two was standard!?

moredoll · 24/10/2018 02:52

DD has 2 middle names. One is a name that goes well with her first name, and the second is my surname because we didn't want to double-barrelled for her surname - it would have sounded ridiculous.

PinkFluffyFairy · 24/10/2018 03:07

One of my DC has 2 middle names.

finallychangedmyusername · 24/10/2018 09:34

I have one middle name, so does DH and so do the DC. I think it depends on the length of the whole name. We have a very long surname so a second middle would feel quite cumbersome.

Amy Cora Violet Jones works IMHO.

Beatrice Anastasia Sophronia Smythington-Williams is over the top.

(Again, just my opinion). Smile

DappledThings · 24/10/2018 17:01

DS has two middle names to increase his chances of becoming England cricket captain.

DD1 has 2 middle names and so will DD2 when she arrives in a few weeks.
