Boys names to go with Edwards...

nickname7890 · 19/10/2018 21:48

Hey
We are really stuck! We are due b/g twins in 2 weeks and can't decide on the boys name !
Our surname is Edwards
Our daughter is to be called ottilie (Tilly or otter for short I think!)

Here is our shortlist ....
please let me know your thoughts !

George
Jakobe
Rufus
Fox
(Or fox with fox as a nickname?! If we chicken out of going with fox as a main name?!)
Digby
Enzo (does it sound like enzyme ?!)
Axel
Ezra (we aren't Jewish and I heard this was?)
Otis (Otis and ottilie a bit cheesy?!)
Arthur
Albert (alby for short)
Reggie (my husband loves but I'm worried about "regd/rejected" connotations and also reggie from coronation street?!)
Ludo

Any thoughts on above or new names to go with our surname really welcome! I love alliteration or vowels with the surname like ezra Edwards
But then unusual names like fox are so sweet and easier to call a kid foxy than "Ezra " when a baby!!

Rufus or Axel go nice with otillie

slollipop · 19/10/2018 21:55

George - lovely name although slightly overused imo.

Jakobe - not keen, is it pronounced like Jacob?

Rufus - I see this as a name for a pet. I prefer Rupert.

Fox - I kind of like this.

Digby - dogs name.

Enzo - it's okay.

Axel - really like this.

Ezra - really like this.

Otis - love this but not with Ottilie.

Arthur - another nice name that's overused.

Albert - not too keen, prefer albie or albus as stand alone names.

Reggie - really dislike this.

Ludo - I like this.

Is Jakobe pronounced like Jacob? Or like Jack-o-be?

nickname7890 · 20/10/2018 05:04

Like jack-o-be !!! But maybe jack too popular atm!

Thank you for all your responses
I really like axel
But read that it reminds people of axl rose spelling out " oral sex"!
Also is it too "mature" for a child?

Can any of you recommend a nickname for axel?! Or " fox/foxy " as a middle name for nn until ds is older?!

Any other suggestions v welcome!!

Ps fox I do love
But applying for a job would he kill me for calling him that ?!? That's why I wondered if better as one of those nicknames you use as a proper name so they have options if want to look more "corporate "!

Love Rufus

Finn/phineaus was another!! Just to add to the mix ...!

I like Albert best. If you want to call him Fox, you could name him Devoss. It means "like a fox". And he'd be the the only boy named that in his class.

Quantumblue · 20/10/2018 05:23

I can see people getting muddled with a Fox Edwards and remembering him as Edward Fox.
I like George and Rufus out of your list.

Quantumblue · 20/10/2018 05:24

And Arthur. Will you end up with nns Art and Ott?

Outfoxed · 20/10/2018 05:31

I like Axel. It’s much more popular over here on the mainland (maybe just Scandinavia/Germanic countries) than it is in the UK I think. It doesn’t make me think of Axl Rose at all.

moredoll · 20/10/2018 06:55

Arthur Edwards. I also like Caleb.

Icklepup · 20/10/2018 08:40

Ottilie and Rufus Edwards.

littlebillie · 20/10/2018 09:47

teddy

AE1234 · 20/10/2018 10:01

Finn Edwards is lovely 😊

EvieV28 · 20/10/2018 10:02

We have similar tastes! Absolutely love Ezra, Finn and Fox!! Fox is my favourite name right now. Ezra is maybe least likely to go with Edwards.

userabcname · 20/10/2018 10:08

I like Rufus best from your list. Also George and Axel are nice.

TatianaLarina · 20/10/2018 12:01

Love Cosmo. Cosmo and Ottilie is great. Also I like like Ludo and Finn.

What about:

Sebastian and Ottilie
Gabriel and Ottilie
Max and Ottilie

I prefer Jacob and Ottilie to Jakobe, I think I’d probably spell Jakobe Jacobi for clarity.

Glumglowworm · 20/10/2018 12:49

It’s not my taste but imo Digby has the same kind of vibe to be as Otillie

But my favourite off your list would be Arthur

Lipsticktraces · 20/10/2018 12:58

I’d call him Richey, but I’m an obsessive manic street preachers fanSmile

I also love Rufus (also a big Rufus Wainwright fan) and Axel. I’d probably spell it Axl though, as in Axl Rose. Otis is cool too.

Not keen on the others I’m afraid. Please don’t call him Fox. I know there’s a weird new trend for calling babies after animals, but they aren’t names!

Lipsticktraces · 20/10/2018 12:58

Unless you’re Fox Mulder of courseSmile

Rebecca36 · 20/10/2018 12:58

George

AhoyDelBoy · 20/10/2018 13:13

I taught a little boy called Fox some years ago. Cutest. Name. Ever. (For him anyway, he suited it down to the ground). Nothing else appeals on your list for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

starkid · 20/10/2018 13:20

I like George & Finn
