What does everyone think? I'm pretty set and love it too bits for son but just wondering what general thoughts are? I don't think it's something that can be made fun of etc, apart from the obvious 'hey jude' but that's not a bad thing!

Hardy’s Jude the Obscure would put me off personally but I do have a friend with a very cute little Jude (female)

Ellamee · 18/10/2018 20:23

Awful. Sounds terrible, and plus it’s German for ‘Jew’ so it reminds me of the yellow stars of David with Jude written on them that the Nazis forced the Jews to wear.

Shadow1234 · 18/10/2018 20:26

I love it.

Madbengalmum · 18/10/2018 20:28

I hate it, and it is soooo common now.

Cbeebiesrehab · 18/10/2018 20:36

Mad where do you live for it to be ‘soooo common?’ given that it’s 50th in the rankings. As mentioned above it is my son’s name so may be a bit emotionally invested lol but I have not come across many Judes at all through the years and I’m a teacher too. I have lived in South Wales and am currently in the South West so maybe it’s just not popular here?

LePetitPont · 18/10/2018 20:45

I have a Jude, we don’t know any others where we are (although my boss has an older boy called Jude too).

I have never read Jude the Obscure but he had Hey Jude sung to him a lot When he was a a baby!

Both me and his older brother frequently refer to him as Judy though 😀

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 18/10/2018 20:46

Love it!

PuppyMonkey · 18/10/2018 20:51

St Jude is the Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes.

Cbeebiesrehab · 18/10/2018 20:54

Puppy he is the St of hopeless cases, meaning that when you feel like there is no hope left, nowhere to turn, things feel desperate-it’s St Jude that people turn to. I think that’s a pretty cool saint myself.

Love it and it's on my list of two names for DS2 (Jesse being the other!). Can't choose between them but I have a few months to decide. Great choice!

Crystalblue13 · 18/10/2018 21:30

Crystalblue13 · 18/10/2018 21:30

Madbengalmum · 20/10/2018 16:21

Cbeebies, in the midlands, and I know of three small judes born in the last couple of years, it is very popular here.

Cbeebiesrehab · 20/10/2018 17:56

Personally mad I don’t think three in a few years constitutes popular. But each to their own.

daisypond · 20/10/2018 18:06

Really like it.
