I suddenly fell in love with the name Jade, but one of my friends said it might remind people of strippers or prostitutes. I know that a name can never represent the person, but it's still a bit worrying to think that the name has such a negative link to it. What comes to your mind when you see "Jade"?

Or would you rather prefer "Jenna"?

If there are any other names that start with J (apart from Jennifer), you are very welcome to share ;)

I rather like Jade!

Other lovely J names are Jane, Jasmine and Juliet (my favourite).

MinaPaws · 13/10/2018 23:41

Not keen on Jade - it is used as aderogatory term meaning prostitute. Also, I know a couple of Jades and they are both really hard work.
Jenna is really pretty.

Jade better than Jenna but both a bit 90’s

NarcolepticOuchMouse · 14/10/2018 00:15

I knew a Genevieve who went by Jenna. Lovely woman.

Rebecca36 · 14/10/2018 00:33

A woman of ill repute! It also means the precious stone.
I don't like it, Mick and Bianca made it fashionable when they named their daughter Jade, then it was trendy, then chavvy.

If you like precious stones, Ruby is nice.

CountFosco · 14/10/2018 00:52

Jean is the besf J name. Jade mKes me think of Big Brother.

Shadow1234 · 14/10/2018 03:36

I prefer Jade to Jenna but wouldnt choose it myself. (Nothing wrong with it though).

Jasmine is a lovely name

HeronLanyon · 14/10/2018 03:41

Jade to me is very 80s/90s and for some reason I don’t like it (not sure why). Amber ? Ruby ?

Aebj · 14/10/2018 03:45

I like Jade but o have a lovey friend with that name.
I also like Jinelle

Wherearemycarkeys · 14/10/2018 06:10

Agree that jade is a bit 90s and common. My school was loaded with Jade's and they were mostly the chavvy girls/the bullies. Jenna has the same type of vibe but less so

Oysterbabe · 14/10/2018 08:32

There was a spell where it was very popular and considered "chavvy", like Jayden became for boys. I know a Jade and she was a bit embarrassed by her name, she went by her middlename professionally as she felt it gave a better impression.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 14/10/2018 08:38

I know an adult Jade and she's one of the nicest people I've ever met. I also know a Jenna and she is one of the biggest bitches. Same with a Jean. So if it was me, I'd choose Jade. Funny how knowing people with the names changes your opinion so much.

emwithme · 14/10/2018 08:49

Don't particularly like either but dislike Jenna more (I know one, she's a two-faced cow).

Other J names:

Jessa
Jinger
Joy-anna
Jennifer
Jordyn-grace
Johanna
Josie

They both make me think of people I went to school with and not in a good way!

Icklepup · 14/10/2018 09:31

Josephine

ReginaPhalange89 · 14/10/2018 09:36

I went to school with a Jade and she was an absolute horror. Still dislike her and haven't seen her since lol. So I associate the name with her. Or with the little mix singer !

Jenna is quite dated . Jessica/Jess, Jasmine, Juliet, Joy, Jocelyn, Josie

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 14/10/2018 09:40

I don’t like Jade or Jenna, but what’s wrong with Jennifer? Jenny is pretty

Proofer · 14/10/2018 10:45

I've never met a Jade who was nice. Went to school with a few who were all horrible

ILoveMyMonkey · 14/10/2018 10:51

I love the name Jade, I think it's pretty. I've never come across a Jade in real life (and I've been a teacher for 10+ years too). It makes me think of the character Jade from neighbours and the lovely green colour. I'm Hertfordshire if that makes a difference to the number of Jade's).

Jenna is also quite nice but I'm not sure I like it as much as Jade and again never come across a Jenna either.
