Which one of these names do you think is nicer for a girl?

Pippa

Piper (very popular here in Australia)

Zazia · 04/10/2018 22:24

I'm sorry but I don't like either. But it's your baby, so pick the name you like.

NarcolepticOuchMouse · 04/10/2018 22:35

Pippa, so long as it's short for Philippa. Piper sounds quite American to me.

Polkasq · 04/10/2018 22:38

I think Pippa is much nicer.

Piper makes me think of a bagpipe player and I'm not keen on occupation type names.

averythinline · 04/10/2018 22:44

Pippa - I've known 2 (different ages/context ) both lovely - one it was a nn from philippa the other wasn a Penelope but her mum wanted Pippa as nn and it stuck....

Piper is ok but not as good as Pippa

Sophronia · 04/10/2018 23:05

Pippa

NicoAndTheNiners · 04/10/2018 23:11

I guess if you have phillippa on the BC you can have either or both as nick names?

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 04/10/2018 23:12

Piper sounds like bagpipes.

Or I think it means to "suck off" in French.

Sunflower321 · 05/10/2018 14:43

Both are awful, sorry

Thirtyrock39 · 05/10/2018 14:54

Piper

ProfessorMoody · 05/10/2018 14:59

Piper is a blow job, a potato or a musical instrument player.

Why on earth would anyone choose to name their child Piper?!

Job names sound so odd. Mason is another one. Just ew.

Sunflower321 · 05/10/2018 15:18

I thought Pippa means how job in Greek?!

KiplingAngelCake · 05/10/2018 15:25

Pippa definitely

blueskiesandforests · 05/10/2018 15:32

Philippa ...

Piper sounds squeeky and random.

Piper, Drummer, Flautist and Fiddler are going to Pianist's birthday party on Saturday.

Who pays the Piper calls the tune.

The pied Piper.

Peter Piper picked a pick of pickled peppers...

I suppose that it's a surname as first name, but as such it works no better than any occupation surname as a first name - Butcher, Baker, Smith, Carpenter, Farmer...

RedDwarves · 05/10/2018 23:33

I'm in the minority, but I much prefer Piper to Pippa.

I see Pippa as a bit of a nothing name. It's cutesy and chirpy sounding, but it has no substance. Piper is altogether different.

moredoll · 05/10/2018 23:53

Piper.
