Middle name for Aurora

Aurora is a strong contender for our daughter but I’m not sure if the middle names we like go with it? Daisy, Lily, Margot, Willow and Xanthe, leaning more towards Margot or Willow. Does it matter if they don’t flow? Suggestions welcome.

The name Aurora is the Roman goddess of dawn and that pre dates any Disney film (1950's). It was also widely used in the nineteenth century and in many European countries still so hardly a 'silly twee joke' name! Ignore any nasty comments OP it's beautiful.

How about:
Aurora Maeve
Aurora Winter
Aurora Iris
Aurora Willow
Aurora Wren
Aurora Violet
Aurora Lark

That’s exactly my point. If I heard a name I didn’t like, I’d keep it to myself as that’s the polite thing to do and to be fair because it’s not for me to like.

My issue was with the trying to brush it off as just being honest/human nature to judge when in reality you wouldn’t actually say a thing when face to face to someone. I don’t care if it’s not liked by someone. If I’d have asked for opinions then fair enough but to come on a thread and randomly state it must be a joke then slate the name/people who like it just seems unnecessary and down right rude. I guess some people need to find some source of entertainment from somewhere!

Thank you wildewillow. Aurora Willow is on our shortlist. I’m happy your daughter loves her name pixieloux. I think it’s beautiful and I’m sure she wears it well.

Oh honey, I was kind enough to give you the attention you are clearly lacking earlier but now you’re taking the piss so you’ll have to find somebody else to humour you. This will be my last reply to you so best wishes.

Thanks to everyone else. We’ve now made a short list of Aurora Beatrice (maybe Beatrix), Katherine, Margot, Willow and Xanthe.

Aurora Xanthe is Mt favorite in sound and to the eye ❤️

Cosmoa · 07/10/2018 17:26

Sorry I meant my favorite

Oh yes, Aurora is certainly a 'proper name' and yes, Xanthe probably more unusual. My comparison above was between Xanthe and 'filler style' middle names.

To me, Aurora is quite floaty, ethereal, hippyish. Willow and Phoebe are of a similar style, nature / goddess names. Xanthe is crisper and a different style of name, likewise Margot. Which could be useful if she'd like a choice later in life, while being interesting in themselves too. Much better than say Jane or May.

EffieP · 07/10/2018 23:00

As much as names like May, June, Quinn, etc do sound nice with Aurora we can’t use them with our one syllable surname anyway. I like that Margot grounds Aurora a bit but I don’t think i flows well. I think Willow does despite sharing the same O sound because it’s softer and fits more in style with Aurora. For me, Xanthe fits in with the description you’ve given for Aurora, Willow and Phoebe. It also feels quite whimsical and floaty.
