Boys-
Errol - it’s not bad
Humphrey - medium bad
Lockie - if short for Lachlan then lovely, if a misspelling of Loki then under no circs
Tate - no this is bad
Zander - I find this so try hard, in my eyes it is in no way a shortening of Alexander (which is a cracking name but should be shortened to Alex)
Zeus - no no

Girls-
Amitie - this is awful, I never watch horror films and still thought of it.
Athena - I like this
Elvie - is it short for something like Elvira? Elvira is pretty
Fifer - no just dreadful
Florence - it’s ok
Jolie - not nice
Nellie - only if a nickname for Eleanor

My main issue with most of your names is that they aren’t names!

How about Flynn?

Shadow1234 · 03/10/2018 21:09

Tate and Florence are the only two I like I'm afraid.

MawkishTwaddle · 03/10/2018 21:36

Hormones have a lot to answer for...

LydiaLunch9 · 03/10/2018 21:41

Zeus is a good name... for a German Shepherd.

RedDwarves · 03/10/2018 21:51

Tate and Florence are fine.

Sophronia · 04/10/2018 00:12

I like Errol and Florence

Pemba · 04/10/2018 03:21

The only ones I like are Athena and Zander (but that should probably be spelt Xander as a pp said). Sorry but a lot of your names are quite odd! - Jolie (pretty) hmm, that's a lot to live up to! Fifer, is that a name, where did that come from? Nellie, the elephant, as pps say, but just Nell is nice as a short form for Helen/a or Eleanor. And then by complete contrast Florence is too popular at the moment and I find it stodgy.

And Zeus, king of the gods, really? Lockie, again, what is that? Humphrey, sounds like a retired judge. Errol reminds me of the cheesy 1930s/40s film star Errol Flynn who was what they used to call a 'womaniser' and people said of him the catchphrase 'in like Flynn'. (Mind boggles)

ReginaPhalange89 · 04/10/2018 05:37

Sorry but the only name I like on the list is Florence !

Brace yourself, OP.
As I said on another thread, my now adult DCs have unusual names but you do have to choose carefully.

Boys
Errol - Flynn? It's not bad, but no.
Humphrey - very old fashioned and not in a good way. No, he'll get ripped into at school and it doesn't have a workable nickname either.
Lockie - eh? Sounds a bit like lackey. Definitely no.
Tate - and Lyle? Taties? (potatoes) no.
Zander - I like this but prefer the original spelling of Xander.
Zeus - hahahaha. No.

Girls
Amitie - Amityville, the house on the hill? Google it. No. Fine as a nickname but not as a name and the poor kid is going to spend her whole life spelling it out. Definite no.
Athena - I know an Athena, now an adult and she's great so yes, I like this.
Elvie - elf? No, again ok as a nickname for Elvira or similar but on its own no.
Fifer - again, eh? How about Piper instead, which is a name. Fifer sounds like a misspelling. So no.
Florence - ok but very commonly used now.
Jolie - Angelina? Jolly? No.
Nell - is ok but brings to mind a buxom, ale serving wench.
