Does ANYONE like the name Basil for a boy?

It's a bit daft.

Basil is the name of my cat. I quite like it though.

I met a girl called Basil in the US, her name is pronounced 'Bay-sil' though.

I think it's a great name, for a nature-related boys name. Brush and Fawlty were very funny comedy from decades ago and don't put me off at all.

There's one in the Jilly Cooper books too, although he's generally called Bas.

I like it a lot. It's common in some countries - in Russia it's Vasili/Vasily, so almost a stereotypically common and normal name.
