Abi or Abbie if short for Abigail. I like it.

MikeUniformMike · 27/09/2018 20:19

I like Gail too.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/09/2018 21:43

Not keen on Abbie. I like Alba though.

sirmione16 · 27/09/2018 21:44

No double b if it's just i but apart from that either works

Abi
Abbie

Not Abbi :S

Tryingtogetitright · 27/09/2018 21:47

Abi - how we spell my DDs name. We ummed and ahhed over the spellings too! I wrote them down as if I was writing a Christmas card and decided that way...

"Love from Me, DH, DS & Abbie"
"Love from Me, DH, DS & Abi"

See which you prefer!

SoftSheen · 27/09/2018 21:49

Only if short for Abigail.

stepbackfromthecircles · 27/09/2018 21:50

We have an Abi. It just seemed right. I agree with writing them down and going with your gut feeling.

GreenthoughtInAGreenShade · 27/09/2018 22:04

I was an Abbie throughout school (past tense because i use a completely different nickname for Abigail as an adult) and always liked it more than the (many) Abis i knew - it always seemed more unusual.

Heratnumber7 · 27/09/2018 22:06

Abi / Abigail

HTH 😀

Heartofglass12345 · 27/09/2018 22:30

I like Abbie as a name on its own, abi to me is short for Abigail and I've never seen it spelt Abbi

Maryann1975 · 27/09/2018 22:36

My friends dd is an Abbie, which seems the correct way to spell it as a name or Abby. As an abbreviation of Abigail, Abi would be fine imo.

Are there any siblings? What are their names? Is there a common ending? (Katie, Lucy, Kaci for example. Could spell Abbie/Abby/Abi with the same ending to link them together or differently if you prefer that).

LucyInTheParkWithDragons · 27/09/2018 22:43

Abi makes me think of the Association of British Insurers, but that's probably quite a niche problem...

Sunflower321 · 27/09/2018 22:47

Abi is the German Abitur (A levels). Strange as a name, but that shouldn't matter in the uk!

Sophronia · 27/09/2018 23:06

I prefer Abby

Tryingtogetitright · 27/09/2018 23:22

Ah, just re-read your question. My Abi is short for Abigail. If I was going for a stand alone name I think I'd go for Abbie.
