Judge my shortlist

7 weeks to go and I can't get DH to discuss names so I'm asking MN for opinions. He was the same with our first and whilst we ended up with a name I love I want to be a bit more prepared. Open to other ideas

I’d go for Sebastian or Arthur for a boy, both were in my short list if this baby was a boy.

Definitely Elsie for a girl, I may be biased though as I’m having a girl and calling her Elsie. Thea and Clara are also lovely.

Please not another Evie. Elsie is as bad. Sorry but they are cutesy little girl names that will date terribly. Evelyn is nice but it will be hard to avoid all the over-popular shortenings.
Arthur is not the nicest sounding name to my ear.
All the others are fine. Clara is beautiful.

Rupert - no

Sebastian - I like the idea of it. Not keen on Seb so I'd avoid it myself.

Oscar - ok. Bit meh.

Thea - nice. I don't like how some accents will turn it into Fear, though.

Clara - I like Lara and Cara but not Clara.

Martha - bit scullery maid imo but ok

Ruby - ok

Evelyn - ok

Evie/Eva - NO. Some of the most generic, unimaginative girls names around at the moment. It screams "I couldn't be bothered to think of a name" imo.

Elsie - nah. Weak.

Elspeth - I'm not mad about it, bit hissy sounding but nice enough.
