A sister for Philippa nn Pippa/Pip

Surname along the lines of 'Lilly' ie. feminine, ends in y, flowery. Needs a 'strong' forename to go with it.

Looking for something a similar format to DD1s name- longer formal full name, with more 'cutesy' nn.

I like Charlotte (nn Lottie) and Isabel (nn Izzy) but they're a bit too popular for me.

Current ideas are;
Dorothea or Dorothy nn Dolly/Dottie/Dot
Persephone nn Effie/Sephy
Penelope nn Penny

Would love to hear any ideas which you think might fit, thanks :)

Alexandra (or Alexandria, if you can stand the connection with the US politician), can be shortened to Alex (though that might sound boyish since it is more commonly linked to the male version Alexander), or something like Lexy/ie?

myotherbagisgucci · 23/09/2018 19:09

My DD is a Harriet and I want to name DC2 (if a girl) Philippa nn Pippa. Lol xx

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/09/2018 19:09

Isadora - Dora

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/09/2018 19:10

I Would used us a y ending nn with your last name ending in a Y.sound.

How about
Dorothy/Dorothea (Thea)
Georgina (Gina)
Elizabeth (Beth)
Christina (Tina)
Samantha (Sam)
Alexandra (Alex)
Katherine (Kate)
Gabriella (Ella)

Thanks all :)

I adore Georgiana nn Georgie but there is already one in the family :(

I like Alexandra as well but find Alex a little bland and Lexi isn't my cup of tea and then the Amazon echo has ruined Alexa 😂

Liking the ideas though

Dorothy nn Dottie/Dolly is okay as I like those nicknames.
I'm not too keen on Persephone but like the nicknames that come with it, especially Effie/Effy.
Penelope nn Penny is okay too.

I also like
Harriet nn Hattie (or even Harrie)
Aurora nn Rory

Hepsibah? [Eppie]
Annie?
Doris?

Jenijena · 23/09/2018 19:53

I know a Philippa/Pippa who would have had an Evangeline as a sister (but ended up with a little brother instead)

Crystalblue13 · 23/09/2018 19:54

Scarlett. But I would say that as it’s dd’s name

LottieIsMyName · 23/09/2018 19:57

I love Philippa and think the following go nicely.

Francesca (Frankie, Fran)
Annabel (Bella, Annie)
Cordelia (Coco)
Rosemary (Rosie)

I also love Dorothy (Dottie). Personally I wouldn't go with another P name as I'm not a fan of siblings with the same initial. But I do think Penny is lovely

Some great suggestions. Thanks :)

Really like Eleanor and Nora.

A lot of these suggestions are already in my (absurdly large) family. There's been 6 new babies born amongst the cousins in the last year alone so names are used quick 😂

Delilah - nn Dee or Lilah
Natasha - nn Tasha

LeeMiller · 23/09/2018 21:05

I wouldn't put a name ending in y/ie with a y surname, personally, I don't think that would give you a 'strong' sound at all.

Frances / Francesca - Fran, Cesca
Beatrice - Bea
Matilda - Tilda
Leonora - Lea, Nora
Penelope - Nell
Henrietta - Etta
Florence - Flo
Rosalind - Rosa
Cassandra - Cass

Sophronia · 23/09/2018 21:11
