Been inspired by another thread!

Anyone here named their DC after a character? Or was tempted to?

My name is technically a made up name from a book... I hate it but not because of the book but because it gets mistaken for other names. If I had a girl I always said I would name her Evelyn after the heroine in the Mummy because she's a kickass Librarian. Awesome.

DS is named after a character in a Neil Simon film.

My DSis is named after a character in a film who was hypnotised and regressed back to a former life.

Mine was just one of the most popular names of the mid-70s!

A friend named her DS2 after the pink fella from Spongebob Grin

Oodilally · 16/09/2018 23:11

My dd is named Megan, after the character from the original my little pony

FinnegansWhiskers · 16/09/2018 23:52

Arwen is a girls name. It is Welsh.

AlliKaneErikson · 16/09/2018 23:56

My DS name may just have been a ‘little’ influenced by a certain Mr Potter.
My DD was definitely not named after Lara Croft or the Lara in whatever book/film (Dr Zhivago?) but people always ask.

ColinsVeryJolly · 16/09/2018 23:58

I have a Logan who is not named after bloody Wolverine.

He was named after the guitarist of a band we both liked.

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 17/09/2018 00:00

Laura Ingalls Wider from Little House on the Prairie

BeeBum · 17/09/2018 00:02

I wasn't named after a girl on a TV show s such but it is where they first heard it.

We named our DS after one of my fav female characters, I didn't tell DH that's how I came across the name till a while later though.

screwthepyramids · 17/09/2018 06:46

My youngest is named after a character from the Dragon Age games 🙈

wouldHAVEshouldHAVEcouldHAVE · 17/09/2018 06:56

My DD is called Daphne- Daffy for short.

DartmoorDoughnut · 17/09/2018 07:15

jmh740 · 17/09/2018 07:22

Ex chose the name Luke for our son it wasn't till he was about a year old I realised he was named after Luke Skywalker

AsleepAllDay · 17/09/2018 07:33

I've often thought I'd like to call a baby girl Amelia (after the Joni Mitchell song) or Clary (after the character in the Cazalet Chronicles, although she's actually a Clarissa)

TheHobbitMum · 17/09/2018 07:34

DS named after a casualty character, DD2 named by a film character for first name and DD3 middle name after a Dr Who companion

ElfrideSwancourt · 17/09/2018 07:41

DD1 is named after one of my favourite childhood books (which she refuses to read).
I taught a Loki, which I thought was an unusual choice!

TinyRick · 17/09/2018 07:42

screwthepyramids

Please say you named your child Varric

Cole was at the top of our boys list (as DP vetoed Cullen).

JLG19 · 17/09/2018 07:43

Apparently I'm named after a TV character but my mum can't remember which program it was Hmm

Theweasleytwins · 17/09/2018 08:09

If i had my way id have a Sabriel, a Lirael and a Sameth but dh is too boring for that so just harry potter names which he is okay with

Ive actually met one of the Khalessi- in an a and e room. Wasnt sure that was her name but her dad had it tattooed quite large on his arm so that was definitly her name

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 17/09/2018 08:41

Three kids shamelessly named after Harry Potter characters.
My husband has no idea.

Haha I love it!

I told my husband that if we have daughters I will name them after famous feminists and then only tell him once they've been registered.

HPLikecraft · 17/09/2018 09:29

It’s not like the names from Harry Potter, LOTR or most other book series in that they’re classic or folk names. It’s just a made up word

So was Wendy, invented by JM Barrie. It lasted a while! Grin

But the ridiculous thing about Khaleesi is that it isn't even anyone's name, it's a title; for the wife of the Khal.

HPLikecraft · 17/09/2018 09:30

I named my dog Tyrion, after the GOT character!

mrsnec · 17/09/2018 09:47

Yes. Ds is named after a tv doctor. Well we got the inspiration from there and I looked it up and it met our criteria.

MichelleGarvey · 17/09/2018 10:55

My birth name was Tessie after the Enid Blyton character. That's what happens when you tell a grade one student that she can name her new baby sister...

Highpeak · 17/09/2018 12:00

DD has a Shakespearean name, I'm not a particular fan of the play though.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/09/2018 12:02

Yes

Ds1 is named after a character in the film Catholic Boys

And dd after a character in the tv series Angel

Technically ds2 is named after a character in Buffy...but his is quite a well known/common name
