So I’m expecting a little girl
I have 3 year old boy and when I was pregnant with him my mum took her own life- was an awful horrible time

She was called Ann.
I’m thinking of calling my baby Annie
But will this have negative associations ?
I think it’s different naming baby after someone older who passed but my mum was just 46- everyone I mention it to says it’s lovely but I think they’re saying it to appease me ! So please be honest
My other option is
Edie Ann

Completely fine to use the name OP no negative connotations- my personal view though is passed relatives’ names are middle names- I’m not trying to have a version number2. Both my parents have passed away and I have given my DD my mother’s name as her middle name.

I would use it as a middle name. I think I’d want my own name and not to be named after such a close family member.

^This. I don’t the trend of naming a child after someone else in the family

Its a lovely idea, and a lovely name. Do it, you know you want to, and remember your lovely Mum xxxx

My late father died at 59, before his grandchildren were born.
I named my first born after him.

BUT - it wasn't until he was at university that I could call him by his name without welling-up in recollection of the times he and I had missed with my father.
