What sort of girl is Georgiana?

Rather than Georgia or Georgina. Sounds very vintage/antique to me and i really like the name.

And i have been playing close attention to Colin Firth’s pronounciation and am very sure that in P&P he refers to “Geor-jee-aanah Darcy”, in contrast to the the Whig pronounciation of “George-aina”, in the Keira K film about the Duchess of Devonshire.

I have heard that she is uncommonly improved within this year or two. When I last saw her she was not very promising.

Gorgeous name! Would pronounce as per Colin.

Sounds OTT girly to me

RedDwarves · 09/09/2018 02:29

Posh. Georgiana thinks every family would be able to afford a pony if they just worked a little harder.

Pemba · 09/09/2018 02:35

She's very princessy and probably lives in the 18th century.

Grin Thanks. Enjoyed reading all of these.

Hermi1 is a good middle name.
Glad Semper agrees with me about long names.
Even if you insist on the full name it will be rushed out as Lizbeth, Jjana, Lzandra or whatever.

SuperstarDJ · 09/09/2018 14:58

Spoilt and stuck-up.

TatianaLarina · 09/09/2018 15:03

Alexandria is the place, Alexandra is the name.

I much prefer Georgiana to Georgina.

Cosmoa · 09/09/2018 15:45

I don't get these questions. She's whatever kind of girl she wants to be/grows up to be.

Lucy1103 · 09/09/2018 16:20

Sorry to say but prissy, not very academic and constantly correcting people on the pronounciation of her name in an irritating tone

Ameliarose16 · 09/09/2018 17:22

Classy!

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 09/09/2018 17:34

I love Georgiana, it’s a really beautiful sounding name.
As pp have said it is likely to get shortened but I also like the nn’s Georgie or Gigi (not as keen on Gina).

ragged · 09/09/2018 17:35

Too many syllables for me = try too hard.
Sorry.. you did ask.

marshmallowkittycat · 09/09/2018 17:36

Posh but friendly. A bit overly keen on horses.

LeeMiller · 09/09/2018 17:42

Like Georgiana Darcy. Sweet and posh but a bit wet. Make sure you like a diminutive as names that long always get shortened.

DramaAlpaca · 09/09/2018 17:52

Georgiana is nice, but just a tad long. I'd go with the P&P pronunciation. I prefer Georgina as it's just as classy but not quite as frilly.

Both names are infinitely preferable to Georgia.

Gigibefreed · 09/09/2018 18:22

DEAR GEORGIANA OH HOW I LONG TO SEE HER, IS SHE MUCH CHANGED SINCE THE SPRING?!
😂😂😂 this made me laugh!!
I'd definitely think of The Duchess and Pride and Prejudice.
Lovely!

HairyToity · 09/09/2018 21:28

Very posh.

OutPinked · 10/09/2018 09:26

A snob.

Carmen99 · 10/09/2018 09:29

Full of herself, not very friendly, posh, materialistic, a bully.

Pollypocket090 · 10/09/2018 09:34

My cousin Georgiana had her name mispronounced at her own baptism

funmummy48 · 10/09/2018 09:36

She'd be tall and willow and an outrageous flirt.

Talith · 10/09/2018 09:36

It's pretty but I expect she'll constantly be called Georgina.

CocoRed · 10/09/2018 09:39

Lovely name I love it but Dh was adamant it sounded like a Disney princess name and would not entertain it. I love all the feminine versions of George as love Georgie as a nn - we chose Georgia in the end but all lovely names I think tradional, strong names.

CocoRed · 10/09/2018 09:40

*traditional
