Hi,
DH loves this name but I'm not sure whether I like it enough to use it.
Just wondering what you guys think? Do you know any? What does the name make you think of?
Be as brutally honest as you like!!
Thanks!

it makes me think of death row...

Clementine?

LuckyDiamond · 08/09/2018 17:34

There was a Clemency on telly last week on that programme where kids answer questions about their celebrity parents. Not a fan, but if you like it, go for it.

hungryhippie · 08/09/2018 17:40

I have never heard of it.
I looked it up and saw the nickname is Clemmie and thought it was quite cute!

margaurette · 08/09/2018 17:42

Love it. It's lovely virtue to be named after, and Clem/Clemmie is a great nn.

Susannach · 08/09/2018 17:43

I like it but yes... death row!

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 08/09/2018 17:45

its a good 'virtue' name but it makes me think of someone being spared death...
Faith, Hope, Charity, Constance?

DramaAlpaca · 08/09/2018 17:48

I love the way it looks and sounds & I love Clemmie & Clem, but I just can't get past my very first thought when I saw the thread title, which was death row. Such a shame.

bridgetreilly · 08/09/2018 17:48

I don't mind it, though I think I prefer Clementine.

sirmione16 · 08/09/2018 17:50

Might ruin this for you but honestly makes me think "chlamydia" BlushBlush

GandalfsWrinklyHat · 08/09/2018 17:56

What about Nancy? Beautiful and classic name

Pollyeon · 08/09/2018 18:22

Thanks everyone for your thoughts!
DH is sulking 😂

Very pretty, I know a Clemency and a French Clemence.

Clemency Burton-Hill is very glam.

Clemency
daisypond · 08/09/2018 18:28

I like it a lot - but then I like virtue names generally. I think Clemency Burton-Hill too.

moredoll · 08/09/2018 19:26

I like it.

Lucylookingforhelp · 08/09/2018 21:12

Love the nn Clemmie but Clemency sounds quite pretentious to me

Liquoricelake · 08/09/2018 21:26

It's terrible.

Pumpkintopf · 08/09/2018 21:26

Agree with those saying last minute death row pardon... sorry op's dh!

SoftSheen · 08/09/2018 21:29

I prefer Clementine.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/09/2018 21:43

Prefer Clementine but Clemmie is dreadful.

BreconBeBuggered · 08/09/2018 21:45

I like it. But not Clemmie, for the love of God. Or even Clementine.

Ploppymoodypants · 08/09/2018 21:46

Prefer Clementine. Love Clemmy though as a nn. Was top of our list for both DD. We only didn’t use it as there are already 3 in our small village. It’s quite popular in our neck of the woods and we didn’t want a popular name. It’s lovely though.

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 08/09/2018 21:49

I'd think of Clemency Burton-Hill too, only one I"m aware of.

I know a Clementine though. Gets called Clemmie.

Makes me think clammy.

Kind of wishy-washy name, not keen.

Even less keen on Clement as a boy's name, though I also know one of those - he gets called Clem rather than Clemmie. Still not keen!

aperolspritzplease · 08/09/2018 21:49

I love it!

SinkGirl · 08/09/2018 21:51

I’d maybe go for the French version (Clemence), to avoid the unfortunate prison connection!

RedDwarves · 08/09/2018 21:54

Makes me think of death row inmates.

I like Clementine, but hate the dreaded "Clemmie".
