What sort of girl is Matilda?

Love these threads as everyone always has such different ideas. I personally love Matilda (despite it being very common now) because of its meaning- mighty in battle. I think of a strong willed, brave and intelligent child. I guess that might come from the book though!

I think the same. A clever, independent girl with a mischievous streak. Matilda is a lovely name x

Desmondo2016 · 08/09/2018 12:26

Blond bunches and dressed like a rag doll. Strong and asservative but girly with it.

DialsMavis · 08/09/2018 12:26

Mine is definitely a warrior princess

RavenWings · 08/09/2018 12:45

Strong tendencies towards a bold brat, very unkind and/or compulsive liar ime. Of course there are nice ones I'm sure but that's how I feel towards it now!

maddiie · 08/09/2018 12:57

The biggest bitch and bully in my school year was Matilda, she officially ruined the name for me!

deptfordgirl · 08/09/2018 13:04

Oh no! Not liking those last couple of associations. It's horrible how certain people ruin names!

Strong and independent

TatianaLarina · 08/09/2018 16:10

The more popular the name the more likely to be arseholes with it.

CorneliusCrackers · 08/09/2018 18:59

Priggish

Tilda Swinton

ThePortlyPinUp · 08/09/2018 19:29

@FrancisCrawford that poem is the reason my dd4 is a Tilly rather than Matilda!

villainousbroodmare · 08/09/2018 19:31

Small, feisty, plain with mid-brown hair so long she can sit on it, wears a tartan dress and sensible shoes.

HollySwift · 08/09/2018 19:33

I adore the name Matilda, nearly as much as the book and film, but unfortunately the one I know is a rude, naughty little brat.

PetraRabbit · 08/09/2018 19:36

Strong willed, more tomboyish than girly.

BikeRunSki · 08/09/2018 19:40

I’m going with clever, independent, strong willed and mischvious. Basically Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

MeandMoo · 08/09/2018 19:42

Matilda is a Bratty Name, So Sorry Sad But Tilly and Tilda are Gorgeous!

SelinaMyers · 08/09/2018 19:49

I taught two in the same class a few years back. One very tall and one very small.

Hayles88 · 08/09/2018 19:51

A complete stuck up cunt.

twoundertwo54321 · 08/09/2018 20:10

Studious

EdisonLightBulb · 08/09/2018 20:13

DD knows one, she is very pretty is a natural, messy, wild kind of way. Sweet, kind with curly hair. Face full of freckles and a huge smile. A wonderful animated expression and Ozzie accent. She's adorable.

Lucylookingforhelp · 08/09/2018 21:10

Makes me think of the Roald Dahl character. So extremely intelligent and funny; similar to yours.

sue51 · 08/09/2018 21:16

Love that name. Smart, firey temper, independent.

fourpawswhite · 08/09/2018 22:01

Have always loved the name. Loved it.

I have now only met one, four years old. Pretentious little madam. Spoilt, demanding, rude. However, her mother is exactly the same and positively nurtures her behaviour to be so. So I think I still love it.

AfterSchoolWorry · 08/09/2018 22:03

Pale with fine mousy hair.
