I like Eli-Sage, Luca-Briar and Noah-Elm or Noah-Leif.

His sisters are Mia-Lily, Ava-Rose and Cora-Ivy.

All opinions and suggestions are appreciated 😊

Eli is definitely a boy's name.
Noah-Ash, as it will be said as Noah-rash, to go with Cora-rivy.

FlowerMama · 08/09/2018 12:46

I can definitely imagine grown up Luca-Briar saying his vows 😍

I do think Ash and Oak are lovely but I grew up with Pokemon so they're both ruined for me unfortunately.

Pokemon-Ash is nice.

FlowerMama · 08/09/2018 12:55

Poké-Ash has a certain poise to it GrinGrin

You're not naming a baby, you're naming a person who will have to grow up and become an adult.

Girls can get away with cute double barrelled names. Boys can't. He will be teased mercilessly through school and will probably change his name he moment he turns 18.

As someone whose mother seemed to view my name as a chance to express her creativity, I'm warning you, this won't end well. I only have sporadic contact with her now - is that the relationship you want with your child?

The names you have listed above are limiting - in school, your child may at times want nothing more than to blend in and not draw attention. The names you are considering for him make that impossible.

He may want to become a lawyer, or an accountant, or a judge, or even Prime Minister. He'd have to change his name first though - no one would take him seriously if he had one of your ridiculous monikers.

I am curious as to what MN considers suitable names for prime ministers, judges, lawyers and accountants.

Noah, Luca, Eli, fine.

Noah-Elm/Noah-Leif, Luca-Briar, Eli-Sage, not fine

Jesus wept. Your poor poor child.

All are ghastly. Why not jar the names you like as first an middle name? Why the naff need to hyphenate?

FlowerMama · 08/09/2018 19:18

I'm quite happy for him to shorten or change it when he's old enough to care about it.
I'm not going to follow him around for his whole life forcing him to use his full name 😂

However, as I have no idea at the what his personality, tastes or career plans are going to be like I'm just going to pick a name I like, ty.

It’s not about you though. A name is a person’s interface with the world. If you choose one that you personally like with no regard to the issues it will cause them, and how it will cause them to be perceived - it’s just deeply selfish.

I’m all for unusual names, but there’s a world of difference between an unusual but established name and Phoenix-Thyme-Tiddlypop.

JLG19 · 09/09/2018 11:50

He'll be old enough to care at 5, but not old enough to do anything about it until he is 18. Don't do it.

Fwiw, I also feel sorry for your daughters.

BackToSquareOneSigh · 09/09/2018 12:44

You're being selfish. That's all there is to it. This name is your son's - it's not yours.

FlowerMama · 09/09/2018 12:54

Sorry, I'll wait til he gets here and let him pick a name for himself then 😂

Luca-Briar or Eli-Sage

JLG19 · 09/09/2018 13:01

Try growing up Smile HTH

SilverBirchTree · 09/09/2018 13:22

If you're after honesty...I'm sorry the hyphen is just awful. They are all bad.

Are you naming a person or a Pomeranian?

Please just call him Noah or Eli or whatever and save the silly stuff for his middle name so he can use it or not depending on his personality.

Rightly or wrongly there is serious snobbery around names. I recently had a client refuse to be referred to a specialist lawyer because she was Krystal with a 'K' and they 'wanted someone serious.' Confused
