Baby boy is 11 days old now and we really want to name him!! I've posted before but still can't decide! We like what I guess you could call 'posh' our 'old' names so anymore ideas/opinions on the 3 front runners so far would be good!

Arthur (DHs favourite- I'm not too keen on Art or Artie!)
Freddy
Wilfred (my favourite)

I much prefer Arthur but if MIL is already saying Artie then perhaps just name him Wilfred nn Freddie x

AnyaMoondial · 05/09/2018 19:45

Wilfred. Brilliant name.

I suggest Bertram (nn Bertie possibly)

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 05/09/2018 20:07

Arthur from your list.

dancingunicorns123 · 05/09/2018 21:59

Thank you everyone! Wilfred is top at the moment! How about middle names? Both DHs Dad and my dad are called David so we were thinking of having David as a middle name however I feel Wilfred David doesn't sound right so maybe a name in between the two? What do you think?

Wilfred is lovely. My DS is Albert Henry ... I love old names xx

Flamingosnbears · 05/09/2018 22:11

Of the 3, Wilfred. Freddies are everywhere and if you don't like Art or Artie (or Arfur) forget Arthur. Like pp I really like John. Johnny is lovely as a nn.

MikeUniformMike · 05/09/2018 22:40

I love David too. Well, I am Welsh. I'm not keen on Dave but Davey is so cute.

Slightlyjaded · 05/09/2018 22:43

Wilfred Is lovely. He will get called Wil or Wilf in time, by some, but these are both love,y too.

The double 'D' with David is a bit of a mouthful. I would slot a gorgeous, strong and simple John between the two.

Icklepup · 06/09/2018 04:13

Wilfred

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/09/2018 07:28

@dancingunicorns123, then I totally agree with you, ArtieFarty 🙄

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/09/2018 07:29

I think Wilfred David sounds really nice !

Jessbow · 06/09/2018 07:39

is Lawrence or Laurence in the melting pot?
not common, quite old fashioned

myotherbagisgucci · 06/09/2018 08:09

What about Wilfred Arthur, then you both get the names you like. Xx

Kitty2002 · 06/09/2018 08:35

We already have an Arthur James and noone shorterns, even though I like the shorter versions. If someone does he insists it is Arthur. For baby number 2 couldn’t decide either for 2 weeks either deciding between Freddie and Wilfred! We called him Wilfred for a few weeks and then switched it on the day of registration to something else and now really regret it- wish I had gone with Wilfred. I listened to too many views unfortunately! After we changed it everyone kept saying we liked Wilfred - why did you change?!! It also means seeker of peace, which I think is lovely. The middle names would have been Henry Kit . Good luck. They are all brilliant names so go with gut x

eatyourveg · 06/09/2018 08:51

Wilfred Arthur David Surname - sounds good to me , 2 middle names isn't uncommon these days
