Names relating to Rabbits..... any ideas?

Slightly odd one, but hoping you've might be able to help....

Bump has been known as Bunny since an early scan where she looked just like a (very cute) rabbit. Now we aren't going to call her Bunny.... but quite like the idea of a middle name that relates to rabbits/bunnies, but in a way that no one else need know. So not Flopsy or Cottontail...

Any ideas???

Of all the Watership Down names, I like 'Hyzenthlay' which means 'shine dew fur' in Lapine. She was Hazel's mating partner and helped Bigwig get the other rabbits out of Efrafra.

Beatrix! Or Alice (tenuous white rabbit connection).

BertieBotts · 29/08/2018 17:53

Hester - was the name of a character in the form of a hare in the His Dark Materials series.

Hazel, Holly, Willow from Watership Down? All male rabbits but female names.

Or the name of something rabbits like to eat maybe - Rosemary?

I don’t have any good names to add but I have met an adult named Mopsy...

I do second Beatrix though, and you could use Bunny as a nickname too

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 29/08/2018 17:55

Miffy?

JurassicGirl · 29/08/2018 17:59

I know as adult called Bunny. It suits her Smile

A school friend of mine's middle name is Babe as that's what her Dad called her Mum. I find that quite cute.

I think middle names can be a bit more out there so I'd go wuth Bunny!

Donnie or Frank 😬

There is a collection of children's rhymes illustrated by Beatrix Potter called 'Cecily Parsley's Nursery Rhymes' - Cecily was a rabbit who brewed ale . Not a very child-friendly occupation, but Cecily is a pretty name. And Beatrix Potter's artwork is charming.

There are also the old-fashioned Little Grey Rabbit stories by Alison Uttley. That might suggest Griselda (the 'Gris' name element means 'grey') or its short form, Zelda. Or other European versions of Griselda, such as Grizetta.

Violet.

Fiver's voice saying, 'Violet's gone!' still gets to me.

What about Dandilion? Although he was also male.

Peachbubble · 29/08/2018 18:14

Lulu (Native American for rabbit)

AliceRR · 29/08/2018 18:16

Nugget
Binky

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 29/08/2018 18:20

Nina (the name for Miffy in the German translations (as opposed to the Engish translations) of the Nijntje books).

Golde · 29/08/2018 18:24

Lettice

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 29/08/2018 18:27

Sorry - the name for Melanie (Miffy's friend) in the German translations of the books.

FairfaxAikman · 29/08/2018 18:28

Freya or Ostara (Eostre) - goddesses with rabbit connections.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 29/08/2018 18:29

Coney, an old English word for rabbit
Lapin, French for rabbit

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/08/2018 18:32

Is there no way you'd consider Bunny.
Yes its cutesty and highly twee but No more so than Poppy Honey Daisy Dolly ect

OrdinarySnowflake · 29/08/2018 18:41

Bunny is a fabulous middle name! She doesn't need to tell anyone and so long as you give her a non-bonkers first name, it'll just be a fun talking point and should she ever stand for parliament, would be fun to hear read out.

Veeveebee · 29/08/2018 18:51

Hazel, from Watership Down.

When I was younger I had three guinea pigs named Hazel, Fiver and Blackberry, after the rabbits from Watership Down.

AliceRR · 29/08/2018 18:52

I just re-read your OP and realise you are looking for a middle name for your child, rather than just a cute name for your bump, so Nugget probably isn’t appropriate 😂

I like Beatrice or Bea

Veeveebee · 29/08/2018 18:54

Other ideas:

The Italian word for rabbit is Coniglio ==> Connie?

Peter Rabbit ==> Beatrix, Petra?

Orangecake123 · 29/08/2018 18:54

Hazel from Watership down.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/08/2018 18:55

Peter Rabbit's mother was called Josephine, if you like that. Otherwise I can't really help as our girl bun is called Marmite!

Orangecake123 · 29/08/2018 18:55

Oooo I see that was posted 3 mins before me!!

TallSlutNoPantiesthe2nd · 29/08/2018 18:57
