Due date is in 4 days 😱 We are team yellow and think we’ve finally decided on a girls name (DD is Alice Isla). Just wanted some opinions on which spelling and whether you like it?

Juliet Isobel
Juliette Isobel

Juliet - 100% . Don't like it spelled Juliette for some reason. It's too long . Plus Alice & Juliet looks better

RedDwarves · 29/08/2018 10:40

There was a thread on this within the last couple of days. There is no reason to spell it Juliette unless you are French or from a French-speaking country. Juliet is adequate elsewhere (and is much nicer, IMO).

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/08/2018 10:41

Definitely Juliet.
Both lovely names OP.

cariadlet · 29/08/2018 10:54

Juliette is pretty but it's the French spelling so I'd stick with Juliet.
I like Isobel as well but isn't that the Scottish spelling?

Goostacean · 29/08/2018 11:45

Juliet Isobel 👍🏻

bridgetreilly · 29/08/2018 12:08

Juliet Isabel would be my preferred choice, though Isobel is fine.

midsomermurderess · 29/08/2018 12:19

Juliet. It's less fusy, somehow more elegant.

Sunflower321 · 29/08/2018 12:42

In English Juliet sounds nicer than JuliETTE.

Sophronia · 29/08/2018 12:50

Juliet Isobel

AhoyDelBoy · 29/08/2018 13:00

I prefer Juliette

Sunisshining12 · 29/08/2018 13:06

Juliet. Because that is how we spell it in English! Shakespeare knows best! Smile

I’d hate to have a name that I’d constantly have to spell out/correct which is what would happen with the French spelling.

Juliet Isobel, lovely timeless name

Glumglowworm · 29/08/2018 13:09

Much prefer Juliet

Isobel is my favourite spelling too

tumpymummy · 29/08/2018 13:13

I prefer Juliette but then I like French names. Also prefer Isabel to Isobel. The a makes it 'softer'.

Branleuse · 29/08/2018 13:15

I prefer Juliette and also prefer isabel or Isabelle

steph2608 · 29/08/2018 13:19

Thanks for all the comments. Think we will go with Juliet!

My granddaughter is Juliet Isabelle

Sunflower321 · 29/08/2018 13:45

In the English:

Juliet

Isabel

Rather than the French spellings Juliette and Isabelle, both of which emphasise the second syllable.

hellsbells552 · 29/08/2018 14:39

I was called Juliet when I was born for a week but my parents decided to change it because they got cards spelling it both ways! But I suppose in this day and age you would announce it on FB or Twitter so people will see it written down 😂

Although they wanted it pronounced more like ‘Juli-ut’ than the Shakespearean ‘Juli-ett’.

In conclusion, go for Juliet!

Stuckforthefourthtime · 29/08/2018 21:01

Definitely Juliet. Romantic but also classic.

Juliette always feels a bit flouncy / Hyacinth Bucket for me.

SemperIdem · 30/08/2018 22:29

I think Juliette looks prettier but Juliet fits better with Alice.

DramaAlpaca · 30/08/2018 22:33

I much prefer Juliet to Juliette. They are pronounced differently as I pointed out on the thread the other day. JOOLyet as distinct from JuliETTE. And Juliet goes better with Alice.

starkid · 31/08/2018 16:13

Juliet Isobel, lovely :)
