Hi, I would like opinions on the name Cole Isaac please. Seems to be the only boy name I like at the moment! Tia

Lovely name. Cole is a great name IMO and Isaac whilst not one of my favourites works well with Cole.

pipilangstrumpf · 22/08/2018 12:22

Cole is a good solid name.

I'm not so keen on Isaac but as a middle name, why not?

MalachisMum1 · 22/08/2018 12:48

I love Cole (charmed fan) it's a great name and ages well. Isaac is ok but I'm not sure they flow. That being said you early say his full name x

missmouse101 · 22/08/2018 12:52

Not for me I'm afraid. Just doesn't sound like an actual name.

froghoppers · 22/08/2018 13:04

Thanks everyone! Seems Isaac isn't too popular. It was actually one of my first choices but I already have a ds with a similar sounding name so couldn't use it.

I see what you mean about the flow @MalachisMum1 I find myself having to say it slightly slower so it doesn't merge in to one name. But like you say I would rarely say his whole name x

Like Cole and Isaac but agree with pp that the flow isn't brilliant. But you are right that you are unlikely to be saying it aloud very often!

soupforbrains · 22/08/2018 13:28

Slightly odd question but how many syllables does your surname have? It can make a difference to the flow.

personally I don't like Cole as a first name but I like Isaac as either a first or middle name.

froghoppers · 22/08/2018 13:36

@soupforbrains surname has 3 syllables. I'm keen to use a one syllable first name, as I feel like it's a bit of a mouthful if there's any more!

soupforbrains · 22/08/2018 13:40

I think it flows ok with a 3 syllable surname.

for example Cole Isaac Harrison, I think it would NOT work with a 2 syllable surname and would work be less fluidly with a 1 syllable surname,

However, remember that other than official documentation and when he is a new baby. he will be known only as Cole Harrison so do make sure you sound out that version too as it can make a huge difference one of my friends didn't and now her daughter's name sounds like the name of a retirement home

bridgetreilly · 22/08/2018 13:43

I love Isaac but I don't like Cole at all, sorry.

ElizabethMainwaring · 22/08/2018 13:49

As soon as I saw it I thought 'Coeliac' (sp?) Sorry. I like both names (especially Isaac) but not together.

DramaAlpaca · 22/08/2018 13:53

I don't like either name but life would be very dull if we all had the same taste.

TatianaLarina · 22/08/2018 14:35

Like Isaac, don’t like Cole.

MerryMarigold · 22/08/2018 14:39

Cole=Lego Ninjago

LucyFox · 22/08/2018 15:34

Love Isaac, not keen on Cole though ...

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/08/2018 15:41

I like both Cole and Isaac, but not together ! Agree it doesn't flow

TroubledLichen · 22/08/2018 15:44

Issac Cole is much nicer in my opinion. That said, you rarely say the middle names, without the surname too, outloud so I wouldn’t worry too much about how it flows. Personally I just much prefer Issac to Cole so would have it that way round.

Topseyt · 22/08/2018 15:47

I like Isaac. Not keen on Cole. If you must use it though I think Isaac Cole sounds better.

pipilangstrumpf · 22/08/2018 15:54

Isaac Cole sounds like I suck coal.. I'm not keen

Quangot · 22/08/2018 16:02

I think it works well. Cole reminds me of the musician Cole Porter.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/08/2018 18:16

Love Cole Isaac, but only like Isaac as a middle name.

kenandbarbie · 22/08/2018 18:39

I prefer Isaac cole

SuperstarDJ · 22/08/2018 19:35

The flow isn’t great but it will be very rare that both names are said together.

MikeUniformMike · 22/08/2018 19:36

Cole Norton
Cole Porter
Cole on

A no from me.

froghoppers · 22/08/2018 19:40

Seems like pretty 50/50 on whether people like it. Which I suppose is probably normal! Thank you all for giving me your opinions. I actually do like the sound of Isaac Cole too (made me laugh about the I suck coal comment though) , but due to my ds having a very similar sounding name to Isaac it's out for a first name
