It's a boy!! :) And boy's names are just so difficult.

What we currently have but don't really love or can't agree on...:

Matthias
Matteo
Sebastian
Marco
Adrian(o)
David
Immanuel / Emmanuel (I love it but idk, strange? My sister thinks it's [insert rude word] Wink)

We need names that work in German, English and Italian. (At least sort of work.)

Suggestions? Thanks :)!!

My favourites are Matteo and Sebastian. I think both of those would work well in many languages x

Sophronia · 21/08/2018 10:18

I like Matthias best.

pipilangstrumpf · 21/08/2018 12:01

Dominic
Marco
Quentin
Leonardo

I like all of them (well, except Immanuel), but particularly Adriano. Conrad might be worth considering?

MorrisDancingViv · 21/08/2018 13:48

I like Sebastian

Mario
Massimo (Max)
Luka/Luca
Ludovico

LeeMiller · 21/08/2018 13:48

I like
Matthias
Matteo
David

Sebastian is ok - Seb is awful but Basti is nice

Emmanuel is nice but to me it sounds a little feminine in English, Manu is a great nn. I don't like Immanuel at all but not sure why! It sounds heavy and I just think Kant.

Adrian/Adriano makes me think of men aged 40+ . Adriano pronounced the Italian way is nicer and softer sounding than the A (as in Hey) sound in Adrian. Nor sure about the German pronunciation.

Marco is fine but I always think of it as a bit of a wasted opportunity when there are much more beautiful Italian names to choose from. Mark is a rather boring name and the o doesn't make it more interesting! My taste may be flowerier than yours though!

I love Massimo or Massimiliano or Maximilian nn Max.
Luca/Lucas
Andreas
Emilio
Gabriel
Samuel
Tommaso /Thomas
Leonardo/ Leo

Is it more important that it works in one language (ie the language of the country where you live, if you're planning to stay) than the others? If so I'd prioritise something that will work and be pronounced well in that language as people you have brief contact with will make less effort to get it right than friends and family.

TatianaLarina · 21/08/2018 15:35

Sebastian.

TroubledLichen · 21/08/2018 15:39

I like Matthias, Sebastian and David (in that order).

Icklepup · 21/08/2018 15:41

Andreas

Yes, it is :)!
We live in Germany (again), which is where I was born and raised. So this is probably the most important language.
But DH is a native English speaker (English is also super important) and both my parents are Italian...

Thank you for your suggestions and onions.

Anton, Emilio, Leonardo and Gabriel are nice imo. Will present them later to DH;)

I unfortunately don't like Andreas.

The German pronunciation of Adrian is rather similar to the Italian Adriano. (But the first syllable is stressed and the r is a bit different. And obviously no o.)
