Unisex: Taylor-Lee and Alexis-Brogan Grin

Or, just throwing this out there: Bay-Happy and Rain-Freedom GrinConfused

Camomila · 23/08/2018 22:18

Rowan and Willow (trees)
Thalia and either Clio or Calliope (muses)
Clementine and Marigold

What were your DGMs names, your DPs?
If I had twin girls I'd name them after my grandmothers.

petrova · 23/08/2018 22:41

Speaking as an identical twin, please remember these children are individuals in their own right. They don’t deserve matchy matchy names or cute - almost- the- same - names .
Choose 2 names you like or have meaning to you ( grandmother/ family names) .
That is all you need . If they are identical , they will be noticed . You do not need names to emphasise this.
Sorry if this appears rude - but speaking from experience, your children will be noticed,

Sorry if this comes across as ranty or aggressive, it’s not meant to but these children are individuals , often people outside the family don’t recognise this or don’t bother to find this out.
Don’t make it more difficult for your children .

helpmum2003 · 23/08/2018 22:52

Well said Petrova

TatianaLarina · 23/08/2018 23:09

I like matchy names, that have a theme or rationale. I don’t like random names that have no relation to each other.

BackforGood · 23/08/2018 23:35

I agree Petrova. Twins already have to get past being "the twins", please help them out by not giving them "a set" of names.

Oh, and something is either unique or not - it means 'one off'. You can't be very^ unique (or 'a bit' unique).

Rebecca36 · 23/08/2018 23:42

Venus and Serena?
Whatever you choose, please don't dress them alike and let them have their own rooms as soon as possible.

TatianaLarina · 24/08/2018 10:21

‘Set’ is meaningless really. If you choose Ancient Greek or Roman names or two Edwardian names for example, it’s not really a set it’s just got a theme. People do the same for ordinary siblings.

LassoOfTruth · 24/08/2018 10:27

Agree with Petrova and others. I'm an identical twin too. We're sisters, not the same person or (shudder) two halves of a person! Congratulations, and I'm sure you will pick lovely names - but please don't give them matching/rhyming ones.

TatianaLarina · 24/08/2018 10:32

Many of the suggestions on the thread are jokes particularly the rhyming ones.

Pandamodium · 24/08/2018 10:43

My nieces (not twins) are name1-Rose and name2-Rose.

Easy to remember if nothing else, the first names are definitely not top 100 so too outing.

Also know of, Mercedes-Raine (gets Sadie at school) Skylar-Rose (definitely a theme here) Italia, Robbie-Ralph, Toni-Mae, Riley-Jay, Ellie-May, Ariana-May, Angel-Mae.

Not to my taste personally but I can't get worked up over it.

Dear God.

SinkGirl · 24/08/2018 11:08

My twins are almost two and I know heaps of twins through our local twin group.

My advice is to have very distinctly separate names, especially if you’re having identical twins - mine have names with the same first letter but they’re very different names, and still people struggle. I’d also avoid double barrell and really long names - shouting after one in a hurry while you rescue the other is of major importance when they hit toddlerhood 😂

SinkGirl · 24/08/2018 11:11

Sorry but that’s ridiculous.

Dressing twins alike is practical - just have to buy two of the same thing, and it’s easier to spot them in the park.

Most twins I know love sharing a room (some insist on sharing beds when they’re young even if they have their own beds they end up in together) and sleep better in the same room. Others want their own space. Sweeping statements like that are ridiculous.

doublerainbows · 24/08/2018 11:18

Frances
Lena
Iris
Ruth
Jean

Second names- Anne, Marie, Louise

Search your family history and see if one resonates? Search foreign names?

Hope you find ones you think are magical and congratulations Flowers.

I’ve alwayd wondered why people do this! I am having twins, mine are a boy and a girl but I’ve never wanted to do the whole dress them the same thing and didn’t understand why others did it.

I’ve seen people do it to siblings too like three girls all different ages in the same dress Confused Maybe it is just to spot them easier!

Kokeshi123 · 24/08/2018 12:15

I think twins and triplets, when asked about this, almost always say that it's not a good idea to give mitchy-matchy or similar names (such as ones that start with the same letter). Anything that increases the muddling-up aspect can also make it harder for twins to socialize normally and make friends.

Having said that, things like "let them have their own rooms as soon as possible" is kind of judgmental. Sometimes twins (and regular siblings) HAVE to share a room--not everyone can afford a big or even middle-sized house or flat.

JacNaylor · 24/08/2018 14:47

Enid-Rae and Maudie-Mae

Pandamodium · 24/08/2018 17:41

Tatiana I live in one of the poorest areas in the north east with a high traveller population.

They are all well loved happy children, I can't get worked up over it.

campion · 24/08/2018 18:00

I've never had any trouble spotting children not dressed in the same clothes, park or otherwise.
