Phoebe with a B surname

Really like the name for Phoebe as a potential for dd 2 due in 12 weeks, my only reservation is that our surname starts with a B, is it too many B sounds?

Phoebe Banana-hammock?

I think it could sound weird, but equally might be alright... Hard to know without knowing the surname. Does it have any 'ee' sounds?

LittleMe03 · 17/08/2018 09:46

Phoebe Buffay?Grin

I’ve just said Phoebe with a few B surnames out loud and they all sound fine in my accent (middle class Home Counties)

DowntonCrabby · 17/08/2018 09:47

I think it sounds fine unless it’s a repetition of the “bee” sound so Phoebe Baker- fine Phoebe Beany too much of a mouthful.

Poppins2016 · 17/08/2018 09:49

Phoebe is a pretty name. 😊

I think it's fine (although it may depend on how your surname sounds overall).

I don't think anyone raised eyebrows at the surname of the Friends character Phoebe Buffay...

OhBergine · 17/08/2018 09:52

I agree with @DowntonCrabby

YaLoVeras · 17/08/2018 09:52

As previous poster said, a sur anme like Behan would not work. I'd think what did I hear. Where did the sur name start?
I'd rule out sur names starting with the bee sound and also a 'beh' sound. Like Bell, Bellington, Benson.

But Phoebe Baker or Phoebe Barker do work.

cheaperthebetter · 17/08/2018 09:53

Would you consider another name to phoebe? Something similar? Like Felicity?
All in all I don't think there will be to many 'bes' by naming her phoebe and B as surname tbh..😊

BigRedBoat · 17/08/2018 10:04

The name is 2 syllables and ends in a 'ee' sound - think along the lines of Bailey, Bentley etc, however as previous posters pointed out Phoebe Buffay got on ok!

Phoebe Beeby?

Spam88 · 17/08/2018 10:12

I only know two phoebes and both their surnames begin with B. Can't say I'd ever noticed before so definitely doesn't sound odd.

BigRedBoat · 17/08/2018 10:23

*cheaperthebetter DH and I are having a very hard time finding a name we both like! The list is quite short, at the moment it's this or Molly but I prefer Phoebe.

Phoebe is one of our top names and will be a b surname. I like it.

Fireba11 · 17/08/2018 10:30

I've taught a Phoebe and her surname began with a B... Didn't seem weird!

TatianaLarina · 17/08/2018 10:33

Anything like Phoebe Bailey would be fine OP.

Icklepup · 17/08/2018 14:02

It would be fine

ReginaPhalange89 · 17/08/2018 16:36

I have a Phoebe. Looooove the name. I think it'd sound fine with a B surname !

BigRedBoat · 17/08/2018 20:36

ReginaPhalange89 I love your username Grin thanks everyone, seems like the consensus is I'm worrying about nothing so think that's what we're going to go for!
