... a "naughty" name? I love it but have been a bit surprised by people's exactions in real life!

Teacher here. Harriet not on my "naughty list" (and yes I do have one!)

theunsure · 16/08/2018 17:15

Love Harriet.
Doesn’t have any connotations for me?

badg3r · 16/08/2018 17:16

This is reassuring! I was sure they were wrong Wink

I love Harriet, great name.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 16/08/2018 17:30

No. I'm a teacher, the 3 Harriets I know are:

18 years old. Lovely, kind, very talented.
11 years old. Quirky, very happy in her own skin
4 year old. Bouncy and energetic, but does behave.

My dd2 is 8
Her middle name is Harriet

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 16/08/2018 17:31

More upper middle class to me. Also Harriet the Spy (wonderful book and a very human heroine).

leghoul · 16/08/2018 17:33

I know some excellent Harriets

JuneDonnelly · 16/08/2018 17:34

I love Harriet. Great name.

No not naughty at all.

PragmaticWench · 16/08/2018 17:39

DS was going to be Harriet if he'd been a girl, it's a beautiful name.

MartyMcFly1984 · 16/08/2018 17:52

No she's the vicar in emmerdale, who used to be in the police. Double dose of goodness with her

Jeippinghmip · 16/08/2018 17:53

Harriet is a lovely name, not a naughty name at all.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 16/08/2018 17:56

It's the opposite of naughty IME

More of a head girl/swot name!

SpottingTheZebras · 16/08/2018 17:59

I know some lovely Harriets but all are under school age and it seems to be increasing in popularity in case that is a concern to you.

Peachbubble · 16/08/2018 18:06

No, I wouldn't call it a 'naughty' name

Itsear · 16/08/2018 18:14

I think it is very middle class, a school friend named her dd Harriett, the child in question ended up as a teenage mother, tattooed, drugs, the lot but it still suited her.

AreWeDoingThisNow · 16/08/2018 18:45

I love it. It was my great grandmothers name, the only living one I know is a physics teacher.

MindBodyChocolate · 16/08/2018 18:49

I love it and would choose it if I had a dd. I know one but she’s shortened to Hattie.

HollowTalk · 16/08/2018 18:50

I love it.

DozyDoates · 16/08/2018 19:13

Love this name and would have chosen it for DD is it didn't rhyme with my son's name (also on this list was Charlotte).

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 16/08/2018 20:40

Just out if interest...what examples of naughty names are there?

badg3r · 16/08/2018 22:14

Oh I love Hattie as a nickname too!

DramaAlpaca · 16/08/2018 22:51

I don't like hearing names being described as 'naughty' Confused It's just lazy stereotyping if you ask me.

Anyway, Harriet is lovely.

Rachie1986 · 17/08/2018 07:58

Neither do I drama but as a teacher when someone says a name it just conjures up a pupils face in your head! Does actually happen for good reasons too sometimes, but you are more likely to remember bad experiences than good...

Fireba11 · 17/08/2018 08:49

I'm also a teacher and only know one, very nice, Harriet Smile
