What's your favourite for a boy please? Middle name would be James.

LethalLola what would you suggest? Xavier? Rodrigo? Prince Consuela Banana Hammock?

@aliceinchunderland1 Haha!! Grin

I like Arthur (my late grandad's name and what we're choosing as a middle name) and Henry. To me Charlie is a naughty boy's name so I wouldn't go for it personally, although nothing wrong with it!

aliceinchunderland1 · 17/08/2018 08:49

I think we'll go with Arthur, it's been one we've agreed on the whole way through and I'd think we'd struggle to find one we love as much, boys names are hard!

  1. Charles nn Charlie
  2. Henry
  3. Arthur (Arthur is nice but very trendy/may date...)
RedDwarves · 17/08/2018 09:02

Charlie James.

I like Henry too, but Henrys are a dime a dozen where I live (Australia).

LethalLola · 17/08/2018 09:14

Yes because it's either James or something totally mental Hmm

But I like that you see Xavier as so unusual and wacky Grin

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 09:21

There are thousands of wonderful interesting names between the overly popular/common Charlie, Arthur and Henry James and Prince Consuela Banana Hammock!

CaptainCucumber · 17/08/2018 09:47

LethalLola - it’s a matter of taste.

Most people choose to decorate their homes in neutral, tasteful colours, which aren’t popular and ‘dull’. I would much, much rather live in a house like this than live in a purple house with grey crushed velvet sofas and cat themed furniture. But would be much more ‘interesting’ Grin

Likewise, I’d much rather have a son called Henry, James’s or Arthur than River-Bear or Blaiden. And most people would, which is why they are popular (because they are tasteful and pleasing, as opposed to brash and screaming about the owners ‘colourful’ personality)

But hey, each to their own!

aliceinchunderland1 · 17/08/2018 09:47

I'm sure there are thousands but these ones are wonderfully interesting to me Grin

*are popular, obvs!

MeyMary · 17/08/2018 10:07

I personally like middle names that have a special significance for the parents. If that's James, then that's James...

But I agree, James is imo a little boring.
It is one of the most popular middle names for boys in the UK. (Or maybe even the most popular. I've seen different rankings...Hmm)

Rather "normal" but slightly more unusual middle names that would imo go with your top 3 (particularly Charles😍)

Anthony, Adam, Aaron, Raphael, Banrnaby, Jeremy, Nicholas, Blaise, Vincent, Bartholomew, Nathaniel, Hector, Magnus, Julian, Gabriel, Benedict, Adrian, Lucian, Jonathan, Declan, Marcel, Otto, Matthew, Andrew.

pipilangstrumpf · 17/08/2018 10:30

The big difference between your home and your name is that the latter's purpose is to identify you!

As said before, why do people always bring up ridiculous names like River-Bear or Banana-Hammock as alternatives to overused common names?Confused

OutPinked · 17/08/2018 11:16

Arthur or Henry, I can’t quite decide. Not Charlie though, I know that much Grin.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 17/08/2018 11:17

Arthur

CruCru · 18/08/2018 21:52

I like:

Henry the most
Charles (nickname Charlie)
Then Arthur. All are nice though.

LucyFox · 18/08/2018 21:56

Henry James
I don’t like Charlie as a given name and Charles James has too many S’s!

Smellbellina · 18/08/2018 22:01

Arthur or Henry is lovely, I don’t like Charlie (personally) as it’s a NN and works better on boys than men, but Charles doesn’t seem like a better option

Ariel88 · 20/08/2018 19:08

Charlie James

CloudCaptain · 20/08/2018 21:39

Just remember he will need to find an email address or social media user name in the future. If it's a common name he will struggle.

MeyMary · 20/08/2018 21:41

@CloudCaptain
He may also be mistaken for someone else. Could be super flattering. Or he could be mistaken for a convict, a racist, otherwise unpleasant person...

Stuckforthefourthtime · 20/08/2018 21:46

All lovely! I'd go for Arthur..

Charlie is v v popular around here, and there's also a Henry in every class, while Henry James was a great author, but kind of an arse as a person, so I'd not like those names together.
