Does Ramona work OK in French? Any obvious associations I should know about?

Thanks!

It works ok.

The French put equal stress on all syllables o it will be Rah Mo Na rather than Ra MON a.

TatianaLarina · 15/08/2018 15:48

Romaine would be easier.

Maireadd · 15/08/2018 20:16

Thanks for responding!

That’s great. Romaine is nice but Ramona is a firm favourite, just wanted to check there wouldn’t be any terrible associations for our French-speaking family members.

Ramona is the past simple of the verb ramoner, to clean a chimney and slang for to give someone a good seeing to...

LaDaronne · 16/08/2018 11:46

that said, it's not unheard of as a name: www.magicmaman.com/prenom/ramona,2006200,15141.asp

Wouldn't worry too much about the simple past, the new generation don't seem to know how to conjugate it, not surprising seeing as many classic children's books are being re-edited using the passé composé instead Angry , sorry, may have gone off topic slightly.
I haven't come across any Ramonas, quite q few Romanes though.
