Hi - anyone have any thoughts on this name? It's one my husband and I can agree on (there aren't many) but I searched it on the darkgreener site and it seems to have been most popular in the 90s/00s and dropping off now - is that how it sounds to you? Not that it matters, it's just I have a name that dates me slightly older than I am and it makes me less keen on it. Do you know any Leonies? Also does it have a usual shortening? TIA.

It's lovely. It doesn't remind me of Paige.

I have a niece called Leoni, first time i had heard the name but I absolutely love it. She's sometimes called Lee

kenandbarbie · 12/08/2018 21:43

I only know one who would be early 40s now. Not at all a Paige sort of name.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 12/08/2018 21:46

I know one in her 50s and one in her 40s. Although they don’t use the same pronunciation: one is LEE-oh-nee and the other LAY-oh-NEE.

I don’t think of it in the same bracket as Paige.

It’s nothing like Paige! More like Sylvie or a much more unusual Amelie to me.

I like it and don’t know any. Doesn’t sound dated at all to me.

Sessy19 · 13/08/2018 07:34

It is kind of Paige-ish. In as much as I wouldn’t be surprised if sisters were given these names. Is that bad?

I know one young Leonie who’s a bit of a brat. And a Leanne who has, in her thirties, started introducing herself as Lee-Uh-Nee...😂😂😂

Icklepup · 13/08/2018 09:37

I like it and wouldn't say it's like a Paige name at all...

MyOtherProfile · 13/08/2018 09:45

Lovely name. I taught one who would be 12 now. She was French and pronounced it Lay-oh-nie. She was beautiful and cool and the name really suited her.

LoveB · 13/08/2018 09:45

I love it. I know one who is 30, never shortened.

I love Leo as a nn though

NOT a Paige type name at all!

ourkidmolly · 13/08/2018 09:46

No Paige is like Jade or Lauren possibly Chloe. Leanne is not like Leonie either. I'm surprised that some people say they know loads as it's low on the baby name stats.

starkid · 13/08/2018 10:42

I like it, and have only met one who was from Belgium.

LoveInTokyo · 13/08/2018 11:09

I know of one who is about 30 and a newborn one.

I think it's a nice name.
