Vowel-y boys names?

DH and I have the following list on the go for our first baby - mostly shortish vowel heavy names. Just looking for some more suggestions in the same vein really, not incredibly common (not sure about Leo and a few others for this reason), that will work with a surname beginning with P?

(I know I've left off the fadas on the Irish names, can't work out how to add them on phone but they will be there in the correct place!)

Elijah
Noah
Oisin
Dara
Leo
Ruari
Luke
Cillian
Luan
Rowan
Elliott
Sebastian
Jesse
Oscar
Lucan
Jude
Toby
Oran
Robin
Louis

How about Eoin? Short & very vowel heavy.

pandarific · 08/08/2018 21:59

Eoin's not a bad shout, but unfortunately I've known a few who were objectionable individuals, so it's been ruined for me a bit!

Look to Wales, the Welsh language is rich is names that might appeal. Iestyn remains my favourite Wink

pandarific · 08/08/2018 22:41

@LadyMonicaBaddingham ah, those are nice names, but all a bit 'high potential of being mangled' for me - keen to have relatively phonetic spellings. nice though!

@Quangot I like a good 3/4 of that list, thank you! Any others you like, discarding the shortish vowell-y rule? We seem to have similar taste.

Harri

MikeUniformMike · 08/08/2018 22:52

Ieuan would get mangled, Iestyn probably wouldn't (YES-din)

SemperIdem · 08/08/2018 22:54

I like Oisin a lot.

Similarly vowelly is the Welsh Osian prn Osh-an or Osh-un (depending on area of Wales)

And the Germanic Ossian which is pronounced as it reads.

Mascen is the Welsh equivalent of Maxim, fair few vowels there!

Having a fat finger moment.

a lot of welsh boy's names are very vowely. Iori (Yorry) is a great one. Iolo is great too but would probably get Yo-lo instead of YOLL-o'.
There's an MP called Guto ond I've heard his name said correctly on the news (GIT-o' - My o' is like the o in tot, cot, hot, of etc)

Thing is, we'll probably end up living in Ireland while the baby grows up and I can just imagine the many and various manglings of a Welsh name, the repeated questions, the confused looks... I think in the UK people will be that bit more familiar and be able to have a stab at least, but I have concerns it might be a bit of a tall order in a country where people are going to be even less familiar with welsh pronunciation.

Leighyum has a few vowels.

My dh has a friend called Enzo. I love it!
