My ds is late teens.
I wanted to call him corbijn.
After anton corbijn, the photographer.

Even with that spelling, there would now be political assumptions.

Great photographer. Good thing you dodged that bullet. Wink

Aiden and Noah.
Near misses. Phew!

DS is a Sixth Former now and both names seemed much cooler at the time. They’re not bad. But I’m glad we didn’t use them.
We gave Ophelia a miss too. Again, phew!
And DC3 was nearly Otto. I still like Otto but I’m glad we decided not to go with it.

I briefly considered Isis which in 2011 would have been fine - now I'd have to change it if I'd have used that!

I also nearly used Katarina which although fine I feel it's not really us.

Same with Ophelia too - I never heard of the 'Ophelia Tits' and 'Ophelia Bum' jokes so pleased we didn't use it although it's still a lovely name.

After binge-watching GoT during pregnancy, DH nearly convinced me to call DS Tyrion. We didn't. I'm quite glad!

DD1 , we had Sophie on our list. Still think it's pretty but it ended up very common that year ! I also had Ethan on the list for boys which ended up very popular too , and I've since decided I don't like so wouldn't use in the future either.

dd2 I had my heart set on her name years before we even started TTC, so didn't even consider any others :)

In my twenties my imaginary children were going to be Emelie and Zachary. Thought I was so clever and original! Clearly I was not the only one. Very glad I didn’t run with eitherGrin.

Mclaren37 · 08/08/2018 08:43

*Emelia

My ds was nearly Jacob. Now I notice there’s bloody loads of them. He has a very cool name that’s not very common - round here at least.

SoyUnPerdedor2 · 08/08/2018 08:49

I did think about isis for ds. Before we found out he was a boy.
Pretty name, after a section of the river Thames.
Glad we didn't!

I always wanted Isla for a little girl but am glad I went for something else as although I still think it’s a beautiful name I hear it everywhere I go now, which I find a bit off putting.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 08/08/2018 09:31

I liked Oliver for DS, now 14. Glad we didn’t, v popular round here! Much prefer his actual name

TatianaLarina · 08/08/2018 09:43

Violet, I still love it but its popularity has really increased as I thought it would.

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 08/08/2018 18:06

Ella, I was convinced for years that I would call my daughter that but it's become very popular and I'm not a fan of the very popular names, glad I went for something that's never in the top 10 or even top 100 but is still a well known name.

DC2018 · 08/08/2018 19:56

I had the names Darcy and Damon agreed with my my ex. Glad that relationship ended as I really don't like those names now.. plus the guy turned out to be a cheat!

Mousefunky · 09/08/2018 10:49

I chopped and changed my mind a lot with DS. I wanted Vincent at one stage because I liked Vinnie as a NN, he really really wouldn’t suit that. Also Ralph and the weirdest was ‘Audey’ which is literally Audrey without the R. I had a dream about it one night and decided that must be the right name Confused. If I’d actually gone for that he’d spend his entire life explaining the pronunciation and spelling, it’s awful. Thankfully I chose the first ever name I liked for him and it suits him well.

DD we didn’t have a clue what to call her but my crazy hormones wanted both Sunflower and Zeppelin Blush. Thank god she got a more mainstream name once born...

DD2 we didn’t find out the sex and I was convinced she was a boy so she was called Seth in utero. We picked a girls name very last minute ‘just in case’ and stuck to it when she was born.
