Curious to know peoples opinions on my choices as I can't seem to decide. I live in the West of Scotland if that helps.

Henry
Harvey
Elias
Emrys
Caleb

I like all of them but Caleb especially

TatianaLarina · 01/08/2018 20:25

Henry.

But with a Polish DH I’d go for Valentyn.

TatianaLarina · 01/08/2018 20:26

Or Roman or Tadeus or Aleksy.

TroubledLichen · 01/08/2018 20:29

Henry is lovely. Caleb is quite nice too. Elias is ok. Emrys I’m guessing is Welsh but it sounds very feminine to my uncouth ears. Harvey I’ve never liked but like a PP it now makes me think of Weinstein so I’d avoid that like the plague.

Belindabauer · 01/08/2018 20:35

Elias is nice.

unadventuretime · 02/08/2018 13:41

Caleb.

MadMaryBoddington · 02/08/2018 16:14

Henry or Harvey.

Loathe Caleb - too American redneck religious fanatic for me.

UsernameTaken2 · 02/08/2018 16:27

I have just had a Henry myself very recently so I'm very biased Grin
But I also think it works well with polish speakers and would be easy to pronounce by polish family members

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/08/2018 16:40

Henry

FfionFlorist · 02/08/2018 17:02

Henry

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 02/08/2018 17:04

Adore Henry and Caleb.

booniloo · 02/08/2018 21:23

Henry Campbell is a lovely name. I don't think any of the others work as well with your surname.

MrsEricBana · 02/08/2018 21:29

I do think Emrys is "conspicuously Welsh" which is is fine if that's your plan, and Caleb very American sounding. Henry and Elias for me. Not keen on Harvey.

madja · 02/08/2018 21:43

Yes to Henry Campbell.
Grin

BigLass9 · 03/08/2018 15:50

Caleb is my fave of those.

starkid · 03/08/2018 15:55

I haven't got a clue about these working in Scotland or Poland as no experience of this, but I love Elias and also like Henry from your list

GiveMePrivacy · 03/08/2018 16:07

Some great names there! Elias is beautiful - we know an Elias and, while it's unusual, people don't seem to have trouble pronouncing it.

Harvey - classic, unusual but easy to pronounce. Harvey Campbell could be anybody - I think the combo sounds friendly.

Emrys - gorgeous name but a very strong Welsh statement, so unless you have a Welsh connection you will get questions.

I wouldn't use Henry though as it's so popular nowadays - and tbh a lot more of a 'safe' option than the others. Would you mind your son being 'Henry C' if he ends up in a class with another Henry? It is very likely that he will at some stage. There are 2 Henrys in my DC's primary class out of 15 kids!

Caleb - has a bit of an American redneck history, though it's unusual in the UK. Nice to have an alliterative name - Caleb Campbell sounds cool!

Names which work in Polish too - from what I remember an Anglo-Polish family, Hugo, Valentin, Nicholas. Lots of opportunities there.

HeyDolly · 04/08/2018 17:53

I really dislike Harvey. I like the rest - Elias, Caleb & Emrys in that order. Henry is fine but a bit bland nowadays.

CakeRattleandRoll · 05/08/2018 06:29

Elias and Emrys are my favourites.

deptfordgirl · 05/08/2018 07:55

I love Caleb

AmyRhodes · 05/08/2018 10:31

Henry - love it. Classic and will never date. Could also be Harry if you wanted.

Harvey - not to my taste at all, mainly because I make negative associations with the name - Harvey Weinstein, Lee Harvey Oswald, Brian Harvey from East 17. Also, it's the name off Katie Price's son and I can just hear her drawling "Harrrrrvey" whenever I here the name.

Elias - it's OK. A bit fussy. Would it get shortened to Eli?

Emrys - comes across quite feminine for me.

Caleb - No. Too American for my taste.

DCam06 · 05/08/2018 13:07

Thanks for your comments. It's definitely down to Henry or Elias. I guess I will need to wait until I see him to decide. I like Elias but know family and friends would no doubt say Eli for short which I don't mind. I really don't like Harry though so would object to Henry being shortened that way x
