Sorry but I just hear gonnoreah and diarreah ..

shooglewoogle · 28/07/2018 00:23

I know one. She is one of DS's close friends. She was teased throughout her school years about diarrhoea, I just couldn't use it

slyoldfoxystoat · 28/07/2018 00:24

It's also a bird.

mammmamia · 28/07/2018 00:24

I think diarrhoea as well. Please spell it Ria or Riya. Much nicer.

centerparcs · 28/07/2018 00:27

They aren’t the prettiest of birds

Rhea
Tailfeather · 28/07/2018 00:28

And urea. It sounds clinical.

Choccywoccyhooha · 28/07/2018 00:30

I like it, but would spell it Ria, rather than like the bird.

kaylanelson · 28/07/2018 00:31

Thanks for the honest feedback👌

sorry the ugly bird and gonarreah (spelt drunkenly wrong) were my first thoughts!

LoveInTokyo · 28/07/2018 01:15

I like the sound of it, but I would also spell it Ria.

DryHeave · 28/07/2018 01:17

Immediately think of the bird.

pennycarbonara · 28/07/2018 01:18

Ria still has the same sound though and kids might tease with it the same way. Would you consider other names from Greek mythology?
Or even Rita?

MarcieBluebell · 28/07/2018 01:21

Rio?

Also think of the sti

LoveInTokyo · 28/07/2018 01:24

I think you're overthinking things about kids teasing.

I know a Ria and "gonorrhea" never even crossed my mind. Didn't even know it was a bird either.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 28/07/2018 01:30

Rowan
Ramona
Robyn

LanguageAsAFlower · 28/07/2018 01:40

Ria is lovely.
When I was little I wrote lots of stories where the protagonist (who definitely wasn't a prettier/more clever version of me) was called Ria. She was cool.

Rebecca36 · 28/07/2018 02:53

That is a dire name. Dire Rhea.

daisypond · 28/07/2018 12:56

I like it! Character from the Greek myths, mother of Zeus, etc, that's all I thought of. And it's a moon of Saturn as well. Not even the bird occurred to me, and definitely not gonorrhoea or diarrhoea which aren't even spelled the same.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 28/07/2018 12:59

Oh god, please don’t use Rhea as the spelling. As others have said a lot of people know that as an ostrich/emu. You will be ridiculed and so will your poor kid. Imagine the school trips to the zoo....

I know of a Ria. Nowt wrong with that.

HollyHocks13 · 28/07/2018 13:15

It's not the most attractive of birds to name your daughter after! How about a robin? they're much nicer!

DannyDogg · 28/07/2018 13:29

Rhea like the bird is not good and Ria reminds me of the downtrodden character in butterflies

daisypond · 28/07/2018 13:32

But the bird was named after the Greek goddess - well, technically she was a Titan. Rhea was the main character in Butterflies, the sitcom. It's quite a normal name, I thought, though not common these days. I know two!

daisypond · 28/07/2018 13:33

Oh, OK, my wrong re Butterflies - she was Ria.

Immigrantsong · 28/07/2018 13:35

How about:

Renata
Rina (from Katarina)
Ria (short of Maria)
Rodanthe
Rodanthe
Renee

Immigrantsong · 28/07/2018 13:36

Rosanthe
