Chloe- classic & traditional vs "chavvy"?!

Baby is due very soon, Chloe is one of several names that we really like and are trying to make a final decision very soon.

I have always thought of Chloe as being a solid, classic, traditional name...I've known a few over the years, they have always been well educated, generally great women.

One Chloe I still know is French, I love the way it is pronounced over in France.

Have been reading quite a few comments saying that the name Chloe has become "chavvy" (I really hate this word) and much more "common" in recent years.

What do others think of the name Chloe?
Do my observations above ring true?

It wouldn't stop us using the name but I am keen to find out why it seems to have chavvy connotations in recent years.

Popular not "Chavvy"

I love the name Chloe!

It's a bit "common" in the derogatory sense where I am though I try not to stereotype as I was brought up in a rough council estate myself :) Lots about DSs age - born 2000 so feels a bit dated too. Seems to fall into the same bracket as Molly, Niamh, Shannon, Courtney, Chelsea, Brooke etc.

Definitely not chavvy, it's my name!

I'm 30, and my mum is adamant is was very unusual when I was born. I don't know many Chloe's of my age, but when I was a teenager/young adult I think it was number
1 for several years running, but the popularity has died down now.

@WaxOnFeckOff
Out of interest, where/what region do you live in?

Turquoise, central Scotland. Names aren't perceived the same everywhere, I guess it could be down to how they sound in the local accent or just your own experience of the people who have them. Bethany is another one that is loved on here but would be considered in the same bracket as Chloe. Oliver and Hayden would be seen as middle class names but on here seem to be lumped in with jayden and kayden etc.

Chloe Annett is my first thought when I think of the name and she is certainly not "chavy".

I like the name. I do tend to associate it with the 1990s but that's not a bad thing for me.

My daughter is a Chloe and will be 40 in a couple of weeks. It wasn't popular when we gave her the name, and some people insisted on calling her Cleo!
