Isidore?

What do you think of Isidore as a middle name; full name would be Ernest Isidore Valentine. Theodore seems so popular now and I want something that is very unusual.

I like it

bridgetreilly · 22/07/2018 10:29

It's certainly very unusual. I had only heard of the female version.

TBH I would assume you meant the girl’s name Isadore and had mistakenly used it for a boy and spelled it wrongly....

I have a young family member with this name and also a boy at school (his family were Greek). I love it, lovely name - associated with bees, scholarship and computers!!

Only as a middle name and TBH with Valentine as well it is too much in that context. Other kids who hear it can make up all sorts of teasing jokes with 'earnestly adore' '[I] adore valentine' and permutations.

He may end up dreading having to give out his middle names.

I would definitely choose a different third middle name if you have to use Isidore but would really lean towards two different ones.

Ernest seems okay these days though with the resurgence in older names, just with more conventional middle names. (maybe grandfathers' names as middle names if one of them isn't Ernest?)

Don't like Isidore. Sounds like a girl's name to me.

I don't like Valentine as a middle name - possibility for a lot of teasing there if kids find it out.

If Valentine is in fact your surname then I really wouldn't use Ernest. So much teasing/bullying potential with 'earnest valentine'.

Ernest Isidore Valentine.
Valentine as a surname is fine.
Isidore is a no from me, and Ernest makes me think of the fastest milkman in the west.
I'd rethink the first names.

I know an French Isidore, he’s very cute.

I like it as a middle name. Not keen on Ernest though.

TatianaLarina · 22/07/2018 14:53

Also I think Isidore Valentine is a bit much. I think one testable middle name is enough.

kenandbarbie · 22/07/2018 15:55

Is valentine the surname or a middle name? There sure is a lot going on there.

pennycarbonara · 22/07/2018 16:11

I'm afraid I can imagine this as the name of a character in a comic novel set sometime from 1900-1930s. Each word can be heard as having other meanings, and *two components add up to being comedically lovelorn.

LostwithSawyer · 22/07/2018 17:49

Looks feminine.
