Twin girl names

Hi I’m due to have twin girls in November and dh and I can’t agree on names he is adamant on calling one of them Lily-May Isabelle but I think that when she gets older that’ll sound childish and we should just use Lily Isabelle. Also I can’t think of a name for baby 2, our last name is 2 syllables, if you have any suggestions thanks. Smile

Agree with you that taking the hyphen out will make it work past childhood 🙂

You could have Lily May and Isabelle ...

Other names I picture are:
Amy
Emily
Kate
Holly
Jade
Jessica

Or could keep the flower theme:
Lily & Violet
Lily & Rose
Lily & Poppy

Call her Lily Isabelle and if he wants to use Lily-May as a nickname, he can.

Lily Isabelle and Hanna Mary
Lily Isabelle and Annie Charlotte
Lily Isabelle and Poppy May
Lily Isabelle and Violet Emily
Lily Isabelle and Ivy Elizabeth

Would you not maybe take the May out and use it as first name for the other twin. Mind you it'd be hard to get a mn to fit with May or you could you use Maya which would be easier to match with.

My suggestions
Lily Isabella. and
Maya Elizabeth
Katy Anastasia
Erin Sophia
Keira Jasmine
Sophie Ellen
Katy Evelyn
Molly Abigail
Amy Elizabeth
Chloe Georgina
Hannah Florence
Sarah Penelope
Zara Jasmine
Emily Nicole
Eden Rosanna

Lily is a bet form of Elizabeth
Isabelle is a form of Elizabeth.
Lily Isabelle is Elizabeth Elizabeth.
Lily-Mae is awful.

MikeUniformMike · 17/07/2018 12:54

pet not bet.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/07/2018 14:12

Oh I never knew the Lily and Isabelle connection to Elizabeth.
I remember a women on super nanny had
3 girls. Amy Marie and Mary-Ann
which I found very strange as Mary and Marie are the same name so itd be like having a Kate and Cathy-Jane.
Mind you the İsabelle=Lily connection isnt that obvious. However if it bothers you op other mns to consider
Lily Aurora
Lily Rosabelle
Lily Kristina
Lily Jessica
Lily Sophia
Lily Madison

I know three little girls all called Lily-Mae (various spellings of both), so wouldn't go with that. May and Isabelle as first names are nice.

The name Lily is everywhere. Instead how about?:

Lucy Isabelle
Mary Violet

When the twins are very little they will be spoken about in the same sentence a lots of the time. I'd probably give them one name each so 'Lily and Isabelle' rather than having to say 4 names 'Lily Mae and Isabelle Grace'. You'll thank me when you write your Christmas cards!
Or maybe people will just refer to them as 'the twins' or 'the girls' anyway.

Freya-Lou is a pretty name :)

I have twin girls. I would suggest that you ensure they have different initials (even with teenagers who dress differently I use a laundry marker to differentiate things like underwear , uniform and school trip hoodies). Also, give the second born twin the name that starts earlier in the alphabet - my second born still likes the fact that at school her name is generally called first. Don't go for names that are too twee as a pair (e.g. Daisy and Lily, or Pearl and Ruby)
Personally I think Lily May (with May as a middle name) is lovely (Its my niece's name). You could have Isabella something plus Lily May, but Lily-May Isabella is rather cumbersome. Other nanes you could consider - Alice, Clara, Honor, Iona, Jessica, Nina, Zara, Tessa

Lily (-May) Isabelle and....
Sienna Grace
Victoria Rose
Amelia Jolie
Heidi Lara
Sophie Pearl

Apresshampooing · 17/07/2018 16:35

Lily-May is very common, and not in a good way.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 17/07/2018 16:42

Lily Emmeline and Rose Isobel.
Lily Maeve and Nancy Jean.
Lily Helena and Anna Kathryn.

manicinsomniac · 17/07/2018 23:54

You've got enough names for both girls there (if you like them as well as your husband of course).
Lily-May and Isabelle
or
Lily Something and Isabelle May

Alternatively, I think Lily-May goes well with:
Alexa, Ava-Rose, Bailey, Bella, Casey, Chloe, Darcey, Ella-Rose, Eva, Gracie, Halle, India, Jasmine, Jade, Jessica, Kitty, Katie, Molly, Macey, Mia-Grace, Olivia, Phoebe, Ruby-Grace, Rosie-Jane, Sophie, Sienna, Tia-Louise, Tallulah, Willow, Zia

And Isabelle goes well with:
Amy, Abigail, Anna, Bryony, Charlotte, Eleanor, Evelyn, Felicity, Francesca, Grace, Georgia, Georgina, Harriet, Hannah, Juliet, Kathryn, Lauren, Matilda, Miranda, Melissa, Madeleine, Natalie, Natasha, Rebecca, Sophia, Tabitha, Verity, Victoria, Zara

Lily with or without the hyphenated name and Isabelle are so popular in my area. Nearly every other girl in the playground is called it.

How about Liliana which is a classier less popular variation of Lily. You can give Lily as the nn but have Liliana on the bc as a mature option for when she's an adult.

Liliana and Isabella do go well together as a sibling set.

RoseMartha · 18/07/2018 06:44

I agree that better without hyphen and Lily is very popular .
Could have alternative like
Lilymay
or Lilyanna
or Lilybelle
or Lily Marie
Or Lily Rose

Then another name like
Rose Isabelle
Or
Bella Rose
Or Isabel Lucy
Or Isabella May
