Art - as a stand alone name... thoughts?

Art - I came across this as a stand alone Irish name (we're not Irish). I like the meaning. And o like that it's a real name but not common but also not strange.

However a stumbling block would be having friends and family in Essex dropping the 'T'... thoughts?

MEANING: In Ireland a seperate name from Arthur it comes from an ancient word for “”a bear,”” used in the sense of “”outstanding warrior”” or “”champion.”” A pagan High King of Ireland, Art’s rule was so honest that two angels hovered over him in battle.

I live in Essex and the T will be dropped, but if you go with Arthur it will be Arfur anyway...

@FASH84 Exactly. All I can think is 'half of this 'half of that. Which is why I'm leaning towards Art as a stand alone. My family are more north east Essex though so I don't think the 'Essexness' is as pronounced as more southern Essex/London borders 🤞

I worked in North Essex until quite recently, with some very well educated people, he still would've been Arfur, not quite as obviously as a cockney accent but still there. DH has family in Suffolk and even there the T would be very soft

I love the name Tabitha but was having the same dilemma, we found out this week we're having a boy though so that puts that on the back burner!

@FASH84 it's hard isn't it! OH's family are in Liverpool so we'd definitely get a nice hard T from them at least 😂

I find girls names much easier than boys,
It's so hard!
