Robert Alexander or Robin Alexander?

OP posts:

Robin

lemonnmeringuepie · 07/07/2018 09:05

Definitely Robert, Robin is a bit too feminine, cute when he's little but a bit squirmy when he's older, sorry OP just my opinion x

bridgetreilly · 08/07/2018 11:44

I love Robin for a boy.

daisypond · 08/07/2018 12:49

Or there's Rupert, another form of Robert.

TatianaLarina · 08/07/2018 13:10

Robert by far. Robin is very wet. What man wants to be named after a little bird? It’s becoming more of a female name.

JustLikeBefore · 08/07/2018 13:53

TatianaLarina yeah what man aye?

a proper man should be called vulture shouldn't he? Hmm

FYI I know a teenager, who swapped to his middle name of Robin, he's not been bullied/picked on for it, and I don't think he's going catch gay either......WinkShockGrin

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 08/07/2018 13:56

Robin all day every day!!!

careerontrack · 08/07/2018 13:57

Robert, he'll be crucified at school if you call him Robin.

No he won’t. I know a lovely teen named Robin and nobody has even commented on his name. I think it’s lovely

daisypond · 08/07/2018 15:45

Robin isn't named after the bird, though, it's a diminutive of Robert. So name him Robert with Robin as a nickname. I personally do find Robin a bit girly for a boy nowadays, though - despite Robin Hood/Batman and Robin and the fact that the only Robin I know is one of the toughest and manliest of men I know.

janie2 · 08/07/2018 16:20

I'm laughing at all the comments about Robin being such a "wet" name. My rugby playing, prop forward, farmer Dad doesn't really conform to that description Confused(totally outs self)

Really, @ilovemymonkey? I’m surprised - I know 2 30-something lads who went to pretty hardcore schools in South Wales who never heard anything. Maybe times have changed but I now know about 4 Robins in my relatively small friendship group and I can’t imagine it being a ‘wet’ name at all!

AgentCooper · 08/07/2018 17:03

They're both lovely! I agree with others - Robert with the option of nn Robin, in case he isn't comfortable with Robin being more common for girls these days. Which would be a shame because it's a great name for a boy.

BikeRunSki · 08/07/2018 17:07

Robin, I know lots of very cool Robins. All male. A few Roberts, all very serious.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 08/07/2018 18:15

Robert, a good strong name.

bigknickersbigknockers · 08/07/2018 18:25

Robin is awful.... go with Robert

Just basing it on the schools (primary) I've worked in, maybe it's the area I live in but yep a male Robin would get a hard time.

Did your friends go by Robin at school or Rob?

Notso · 09/07/2018 11:15

I love both. DC4 was almost Robin but we wanted Robert as a middle name so didn't use it. DS wishes we had as he loves all things Batman!
With your choices I think Robin sounds better with Alexander.

Scribblegirl · 09/07/2018 11:26

@Ilovemymonkey One Rob, one Robin. May be a Welsh thing though!
