I love Teddy☺️

TroubledLichen · 29/06/2018 16:02

Love Penelope/Nell. Totally personally prefence but I’m not keen on the others unless they’d be short for something like Edward/Theodore/Theodora or Francesca/Francis.

AlyTab · 29/06/2018 16:58

I love Frankie. Especially for a girl. Would it be just Frankie or Francesca were you to have a girl? Or Frances I guess (personally not a fan). Frankie for a boy is good too. My fave of your three. For a boy I prefer Franklin over Francis if Frankie is not your stand-alone name.

Nell is nice.

Ted is good too. Reminds me of How I met your mother, which for me is a good association :)

Just Frankie for either I don't personally like either options to lengthen I do like Frank but wouldn't go with surname x

Don't like Frankie . Like ted but there are tons of them atm. LOVE nell

JessambardKingdomBrunel · 29/06/2018 18:08

Just a warning with Penelope - you can't force the Nell nickname. She may get to school and decide to be known as Penny.

I know some people who called their son Alexander, wanting him to be known as Xander, but he decided to become an Alex (which they hate) when he was 7.

So if you hate Penny (as I do), I would avoid Penelope and just call her Nell, or maybe Eleanor.

JessambardKingdomBrunel · 29/06/2018 18:11

And Frankie and Teddy are awful. Fine as nicknames, but babyish and quite frankly a bit cruel as full names.

Francesca is beautiful and Frank is ok. Frances is also an option.

And Edward/Edwin/Theodore, Edwina/Thea/Theodora are all proper , professional names that could take your offspring into any walk of life.

You're naming a person, not a baby. Remember that.

DeckSofa · 29/06/2018 18:16

I really like Nell. Ted is fine as nickname for Edward/Edmund/Edwin or Theodore; not keen on Teddy though. I don't like Frankie (sounds like it's short for Frankenstein), but if you like it, I think Francis for a boy and Frances for a girl are nice. Am not a fan of Francesca, Fran, Cesca.

DeckSofa · 29/06/2018 18:18

Frankincense would be a fantastic name IMO Grin

InNeedOfALieInNow · 29/06/2018 18:21

We chose Nell over Penelope Purely because I didn’t want to risk Penny as a nickname. I’m biased obv but we think Nell is an awesome name and we get lots of compliments

daisypond · 29/06/2018 18:55

Penelope and Nell are nice.
Not Teddy/Ted unless short for Edward or some such.
Not Frankie. I'm not keen on Francis for a boy. But I do like Frances, Francesca, Francine, etc for a girl. There' s the Italian diminutive Franca which I quite like as well..

CorianderSnell · 29/06/2018 19:02

I’ve always thought Frankie was a great name; one of those names o thought was cool when I was a kid and still like now. I don’t like any longer versions either so would agree just Frankie is best.

I know a Penelope who is always Penelope or Pen, never Penny, but agree she’d most likely get called Penny at some point unless always introduced as Nell. I knew a cool little Nell who would be about 8 now. I like the sound of it but not the look of it written down.

I know three Ted’s, and feel it is quite an of its time name now, not sure where it stands in rankings. It’s still a perfectly nice name though.

mrssunshinexxx · 29/06/2018 21:04

Thanks guys !

Sounds like if it was a she, she would be introduced as Nell and just Penelope on birth certificate because I hate penny

Penelope is fantastic and love Nell as a nickname for it.
I wouldn't use Ted/Teddy on its own, but is great as a nickname for Theodore/Theodora.
Frankie I'm not a fan of. It's a nickname name, but would a Frankie be taken seriously as a professional in adult life? I don't know, it's a fun, cool name, but as a nickname.

Sophronia · 30/06/2018 19:38

I like Penelope/Nell but Teddy and Frankie are a bit nicknamey for me.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 30/06/2018 20:42

Penelope/Nell, sorry don't like the other two.

LoveInTokyo · 30/06/2018 21:55

Love Penelope/Nell.

Think Teddy should be short for Edward.

Not keen on Frankie for a boy or a girl, but if you do, go for Francis/Frances/Francesca on the birth certificate.
