Is there a reason for the 'i' instead of 'y' I mean heritage wise? Will your boy be part Welsh?
I really like Henri

Jessbow · 26/06/2018 23:09

William or Rhodri and good, not keen on Harri ( Girly shortening of Harriet? ) nor Henri - unless you are french

CocoLoco87 · 26/06/2018 23:19

Not sure on the different spellings. I'd go for Rhodri

DeckSofa · 26/06/2018 23:28

William, then Henri.

lucieloos · 27/06/2018 01:33

Yes I'm Welsh hence the spellings. That's how they are spelt here.

Rhodri or William

Sophronia · 27/06/2018 02:14

I like Rhodri

MeyYael · 27/06/2018 06:08

Henri :)!

I also like William.

LoveInTokyo · 27/06/2018 08:25

I like Rhodri.

Harris sounds like a girly nn for Harriet and Henri looks French. (I know they’re Welsh too, but that’s not what comes to mind first for me.)

William is a nice name but doesn’t really say anything about your Welsh heritage.

Icklepup · 27/06/2018 09:46

Henri

MikeUniformMike · 27/06/2018 13:27

William - use Wiliam or Gwilym instead.
Harri - fine
Henri - fine, but I'm not sure if it sounds a bit 'cissy'
Rhodri - don't like it. I don't know why, but I just don't.

lucieloos · 27/06/2018 13:48

I don't really like Gwilym and I think using one 'l' in willliam would be hard work.

You have a point. You could say that about Harri, Henri and Tomos.
I know a Wiliam. DD2 is Emma (DH1 was english, English surname and we live in England) and someone suggested we spelt it Ema but we decided it was a bit naff and looked to much like Emu.

lucieloos · 27/06/2018 14:58

Yes I don't know I thing losing one 'l' is barely noticeable so don't think it's worth the hassle it would cause whereas the others they are clearly different Welsh spellings. Definitely prefer Emma over Ema.

Rhodri is lovely, William classic and nice.

I'm always a bit wary of names like Harri or Henri that he'll spend his life spelling for people - especially if it's Harri Tomos.

MikeUniformMike · 27/06/2018 15:27

I only know one Rhodri IRL, and he is Rhodri not Rodry or Rod/Rhod, and it's OK. I just don't like the Rodry pronunciation. I don't like the name Rod/Rhod.
Most welsh names don't benefit from a non-welshperson saying them. At least Harri is a welsh name and sounds just the same in English (regional accents excepted).
Personally, I think with which one goes best with your surname and if your surname is Parry, then you MUST call him Harri, as it would be such a cool name.

Winchester13 · 27/06/2018 15:30

I like Henri or Henry the best

RavenWings · 27/06/2018 16:05

William - very boring
Harri - ok
Henri - ok
Rhodri - new name to me. I like it.

I'd go for Harri or Rhodri.

lucieloos · 27/06/2018 16:50

All of them go equally well with our surname in my opinion.

William

Flamingosnbears · 02/07/2018 16:33

William or Henry but not the other spellings...

Benandhollysmum · 04/07/2018 02:26

If you like all those name wait until he’s born, see which one suits him the best, some kids suit their names perfectly
So when he’s born you’ll tell he’s a William, Henri,rhodri or harri
She’s stated she’s welsh and that’s how they spell the names therewhy anglosize them if her roots are welsh?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/07/2018 09:45

💙 Tomos William.
William or Harri, both lovely.

lucieloos · 04/07/2018 17:24

Ohh yes I do quite like Tomos William! My only slight worry is that tomos will inevitably become tom which I'm not so keen on but it is growing on me.
