I love the name Najah. It's pure and beautiful.

Do you love this name?
Hate it?
Like it?

Would consider it?

What is the meaning?
Sadly, where I am it would sound like people saying"Nadia" (though I like that too!)

TroubledLichen · 20/06/2018 19:50

Is it Arabic? I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce it but it looks pretty written down.

southriding · 20/06/2018 22:11

How is it pronounced?

SmilingButClueless · 20/06/2018 22:14

It depends how it’s pronounced.

If it’s more like ‘nar-jar’ then I quite like it.

If it’s more like ‘nadger’ (to rhyme with badger) then I really wouldn’t use it if you’re in the UK.

ScreamingValenta · 20/06/2018 22:15

I like it - it suggests energy and radiance to me.

DowntonCrabby · 20/06/2018 22:22

I think it’s lovely, is it pronounced Nah-yah/n(eye)-ah?

TatianaLarina · 20/06/2018 22:27

Naja Naja is an Indian cobra.

Veterinari · 20/06/2018 22:45

Are you sure it’s not a mispronunciation of Nadia?

That’s my first thought...

AhWeCanDanceIfWeWantTo · 20/06/2018 22:47

Soft J or hard J? I like it with a soft J.

EdWinchester · 20/06/2018 22:50

Is it made up? Agree, sounds like Nadia mis-pronounced.

TatianaLarina · 20/06/2018 22:51

It’s a Muslim name afaik

AhWeCanDanceIfWeWantTo · 20/06/2018 22:54

Is it made up?

Hmm why? Because it’s not English?

All names are made up BTW.

reddressblueshoes · 20/06/2018 22:57

I know one who is Danish and it's pronounced Ny-ah. Its lovely but t pronunciation issues in the UK would put me off.

Londoner999 · 20/06/2018 23:01

I believe it's a Middle Eastern name pronounced Na-jah. It's alright, but if your child was growing up in the UK, I would go for something that would work better in both languages.

Fabricwitch · 20/06/2018 23:19

I know some with this name and think it's really pretty. I don't know the meaning of it

Battleax · 21/06/2018 00:54

It looks clunky in English and, yes, like Nadia/Nadja gone askew. Maybe it’s just not a travelling name?

ladybirdsaredotty · 21/06/2018 02:29

Well I think it's lovely, OP Smile

HeyDolly · 21/06/2018 03:58

It sounds too much like nadger when i pronounce it.

TatianaLarina · 21/06/2018 08:57

All names are made up BTW.

No they’re not - names primarily derive from existing words.

AhWeCanDanceIfWeWantTo · 21/06/2018 09:20

Hmm and words just grow in the ground do they?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/06/2018 09:24

It's a 'no' from me, sorry.
It reminds me also of nadging/nadger.

Branleuse · 21/06/2018 09:29

i think its really nice

pinkmagic1 · 21/06/2018 09:38

It is an Arabic boys name and is pronounced Na Jar. We have a family member with the name.
It is not my favourite name but if you like it then use it Op. My son also has an Arabic name which is very unusual in the UK.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/06/2018 12:26

Oh boy name pronounced Na-JAR I really like.

‘Nadger’ is a no from me

More Nadia-ish pronounciations I like too if a girl.

So it depends!
