I'd love to use it as the name means a lot to me but I'm struggling to picture a baby called Kenneth Confused

Is there any similar names or maybe making shorter? Although I'm not keen on Kenny either!!!

use it. it means a lot to you and its very unusual at the moment. he could be Ken, Kenny, KenKen, Kenzie, Neth, Kenson etc for a nickname

Sweetsdo · 17/06/2018 20:43

I know a little boy called Kenneth- he gets called Kenny and he's fab!
I also know a Kenzie.

Kendal?
Kenzo?
Kent?
Kenton?
Kendo?

MeyYael · 17/06/2018 20:49

Kenneth nn Ken, Kenzo, Nethie, Ennet, Kent...?

It's fine imo. Maybe a bit unusual for a baby but perfectly fine for an older child or adult.

SavoyCabbage · 17/06/2018 20:58

A fine name.

On a similar note, I went to a quite naice school a few weeks ago where there were two Lily-Maes, a Lilly-Mae, a Ruby-Mae a Poppy-May and a Ellie-Mae and a Linda.

It was Linda who I remembered and Linda who got to take the register to the office because I knew who she was.

We chose names which meant a lot to us for our children, rather than names which were nice or in vogue. Never regretted them, much better than choosing a name which we might have gone off later.

Kenny is an ok name (similar to our choice) At least as good as the more current choices of Ronnie or Freddie. But it won't date or be over-common. In fact, it is growing on me already. Go for it!

victoryvee · 17/06/2018 20:58

Kenny is gorgeous. Unusual and a name that will grown baby to adult.
Also you can call your kid anything and after a while people won't question and will just associate it with that person. How many times do we hear "I love the name Mary but I once knew one who peed in my shoe and now I hate it". Do what has meaning.

hildabaker · 17/06/2018 21:00

Kenny is nice

Reaa · 17/06/2018 21:07

Neath

Neth

Kenith

I like Kenneth as a whole

VanillaSugar · 17/06/2018 21:09

Neth- that's such a cool name.

ZebraKid71 · 17/06/2018 21:33

I would never have considered it for dc, but now it has been brought to my attention I think it is really lovely.

Sweetsdo · 17/06/2018 21:36

Thanks everyone, it's growing on me now!!

Or could you use Kenneth as a middle name?

junebirthdaygirl · 17/06/2018 22:42

I like Kenneth. Have a friend in his 40s and its never been shortened. But also know a few Kens and much prefer Ken to Kenny. After all Ben is so popular and Ken is just as nice.

celtiethree · 17/06/2018 22:43

Neth is great

bridgetreilly · 17/06/2018 23:01

Ken. It's a lovely name, though I may be biassed because of my lovely grandfather.

neverhadanymarblestolose · 17/06/2018 23:10

Kenneth is my dad's and my brothers name (he's in his 30's).
My brother hates being called Kenny though, so has always been Ken or Kenneth.
It's my 3 year olds middle name too.

neverhadanymarblestolose · 17/06/2018 23:13

Although my 3 year old can't pronounce it, so he calls himself Kemmeth when telling anyone his fill name Grin

neverhadanymarblestolose · 17/06/2018 23:13

mistermagpie · 17/06/2018 23:26

My DS's middle name is Kenneth, it was my grandads name and I would have had it as a first name but it would sound ridiculous with our surname. Think, Kenneth Kennington...

Anyway I know a couple of Kennys in their thirties and I quite like it, it's a name that means a lot to you do use it!

WillowintheUK · 17/06/2018 23:30

Kenneth is a fine name, it's time it was used more often. I've a brother called Kenneth.

ReadytoTalk · 17/06/2018 23:33

Kennedy?

Joeybee · 18/06/2018 00:29

I really like Kenneth. It's a name you don't hear anymore, yet it's a really nice name. Other than Ken/Kenny I don't think there's a lot you can do with it though.
I wouldn't be put off this name just because it's a little dated, it totally deserves a comeback. If you like it, go for it.

ZebraKid71 · 18/06/2018 03:56

To add, I also quite like Kendra for a girl.
