Can we use this as a stand alone name?

Fred.
Love Fred, don’t really like Alfred, Wilfred or Fredrick. Can we just use Fred on it’s own or do you think it’s a bit nicknamey and unsubstantiatal?

My 60 year old auntie is Fred! Always been known as Fred, real name Dawn.
Love the name for male or female Grin

I think it's too nicknamey to be a standalone name.

Most people will assume he's Frederick anyway.

I'm considering Fred or Freddie. Can't think of a middle name to go with Fred though.

Manfred? Could have Manny as well which is pretty cool.

Absolutely fine as long as you don’t mind being asked if it’s short for Federick and having to say ‘it’s just Fred’ a lot. You get loads of Alfies and other nickname names that aren’t short for anything and in my opinion Fred is a lot nicer than most of those.
