DC2 is going to be a girl! Alice and Isabelle are my top 2 choices but I'm not sure which one to go for, any opinions? Surname is 2 syllables and ends in an 'ee' sound.

Both nice but I prefer Isabelle.

RedDwarves · 12/06/2018 23:09

Alice.

I wouldn't immediately spell Isabelle like that. I would assume it was Isobel or Isabel. I'm not a fan of it, regardless, but the spelling will be an issue. Isabella would resolve that, though?

LexieLulu · 12/06/2018 23:19

Alice

DontMentionTheWar · 13/06/2018 01:39

Alice. Isabelle (in all its forms) is far too popular now. Matilda is the best of all of them though.

SemperIdem · 13/06/2018 01:40

Alice

bridgetreilly · 13/06/2018 06:34

Alice Matilda.

lovelyjubilly · 13/06/2018 06:36

Alice. Too many spelling-related dilemmas with Izabell...

Octopeppa · 13/06/2018 07:02

Isabelle.

I find Alice a bit stuffy.

ParisNext · 13/06/2018 07:06

Alice Matilda or Alice Violet- just beautiful. Never shortened and always spelt correctly.

lucieloos · 13/06/2018 08:43

Isabelle much nicer in my opinion

maybejane · 13/06/2018 08:56

Love Isabelle. Not keen on Alice, I find it a bit mouse-y/frumpy. Much prefer Alicia. If you're really struggling to decide between the two, you could always use one as a middle name - Isabelle Alice / Isabelle Alicia sound lovely.

IdblowJonSnow · 13/06/2018 09:08

Both beautiful names but very popular at the mo. I know several of each.

WhyBeUnkind · 13/06/2018 09:19

Isabelle is nice but very popular and Alice is nice but very popular.

Isabelle might get shortened to Izzy when she is older?

eloisesparkle · 13/06/2018 09:44

Why not go for:
Alice Isobel Matilda
or
Isobel Alice Matilda
or
Alice Isobel Ivy
or
Isobel Alice Ivy
or
Alice Isobel Violet
or
Isobel Alice Violet

Obviously the spelling of Isobel is up to you. I prefer Isobel.

Having 3 names is fine.
The British aristocracy have about 5 each Smile

They are both lovely names, but I just slightly prefer Isabelle I think, although the spellings Isabel or Isobel are better IMO. Of course Isabel/la has been extremely popular over the last decade or so, as I'm sure you know, so if that's a consideration then Alice.

leghoul · 13/06/2018 18:18

Alice Matilda or Alice Violet both lovely. I know I've already voted for Alice but voting again.. also, have you considered Clara?

FawnDrench · 13/06/2018 19:09

Alice

Claricestarling1 · 13/06/2018 19:21

Isabelle, although I prefer Isabella 😊 Alice seems so plain and safe and well..boring sorry!!

Pemba · 13/06/2018 19:41

Alice is gorgeous too, Alice in Wonderland etc. Just not so obvious as Isabel/la.

Glumglowworm · 13/06/2018 20:28

I know several Alice’s, plus two Alys (one pronounced the same as Alice the other Ay-lis)

I’m a Brownie and Guide leader and have lost count of all the Isabel/Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella but I still think it’s a lovely name (Isobel is my favourite spelling and the one I’ve seen the least) and I like Izzy as a nickname

DramaAlpaca · 13/06/2018 20:29

Alice.

Isabelle is a bit frilly for me. I prefer Isabel or Isobel.

BikeRunSki · 13/06/2018 20:32

I love this thread. My name is Alice!

gingerpickles · 13/06/2018 20:39

Alice Violet is beautiful, really quite classic.

DN is Isabel, no one ever spells her name correctly, she's often called Izzy and her parents hate this. I also knew a dog called Izzy.

hartof · 13/06/2018 20:46

We had the same choice to make 10 years ago and went with Alice. I'm glad we did, at the time there was no other Alice's around us. There's a few now but it's not as popular as Isabelle.

ellalouise90 · 13/06/2018 20:55

I prefer Isabelle , personally feel as though Alice is a bit older fashioned ... how Isabelle Alice is a nice combination , or Isabelle
