Siblings with same initial

Would it be ok to have two out of three dcs with the same initial? I've always been against the idea until naming dc3, when all the boys name we like have been used in our large family. For example:
Elsie, George and Edward. When close relatives are telling you to use Arthur as it's a perfect match, but you love Edward.
Or Leo, Jack and Layla, or Eva, James and Euan, Elise, Jonah and Evan etc... (just thinking of examples).

Probably over thinking, but we've had a couple of comments from family about the middle child being left out.

It's fine. You're overthinking!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/06/2018 11:31

It’s fine.

We have duplicate initials here!!
A woman I worked for gave her dc the same initials deliberately so she could pass on their private school uniform where every item has appliquéd initials on!!
Genius!!

In the above example, Edward and Elsie are different genders, so post should come to Mr E and Miss E, making it a bit less confusing. Unless there's a big age gap, the two are likely to be receiving mail at the same address for a good while. But it's a minor inconvenience amongst family.

Thanks daisypond. It's only because two family members have commented that it's made me over think. Wish people wouldn't comment when not asked to.

What happens when you get mail addressed to Mr A Smith, and your DSs are called Alan, Anthony and Adrian? Who opens the letter???

Having said that, my friend called her three Richard, Michael and Nicholas deliberately to avoid confusion, and they're now universally called Rick, Mick, and Nick and no-one can tell them apart, so each to their own. Smile

Me and my two brothers all shared initials. I don’t know what my parents were thinking. It was a real pain actually. Once when we were little my booked swimming lessons got cancelled and the place offered to someone else as the centre thought it was a duplicate booking. There are so many names out there no need to give your children the same initials.

It can cause problems. My partner and his son have the same initials and surname and the tax office constantly confused them and it took ages to sort out.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 10/06/2018 11:55

It's fine, I think lots of families have this. It's fairly common to have Same initials, some families even do it deliberately.

My older brother and I share all three intinals. not our real names but say he's John Christopher Bennett I'm Jo Clara Bennett our parents wouldn't call us JCB

It saved on name tags at school, mum would just order 1000 of J.C Bennett or J Bennett and it did both of us. The younger two siblings have totally different intinals so she had to buy them a set each

I have a DD and a DS with the same first and middle initials

GetInMyNelly · 10/06/2018 12:05

Me and my DB both have CJD as our initials.

Came in handy when we had cheques for birthdays!!

Me and my 2 siblings all have CD as initials.

llangennith · 10/06/2018 12:26

Knowing what problems this caused in friends’ families I ruled out any names with duplicate initials so didn’t even look at duplicates.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 10/06/2018 12:26

And are you a mad cow Nelly??

daisypond · 10/06/2018 12:32

If it was two girls or two boys with the same initials, I wouldn't be so keen. But as this seems to be one boy and one girl that will share the initial, that's fine.
