Hey guys,

Do you know any good middle names to honour an Amanda? Can't be Miranda/Mandy.

Thanks! Smile

I'm confused, sorry. You want a name similar to Amanda as middle name? Or is it Amanda as first name?

If it helps, I think Amanda would be a lovely middle name.

ilovepixie · 06/06/2018 18:49

Milly-Molly-Mandy

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/06/2018 18:50

Yes, Amanda would seem the obvious choice...

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 18:50

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, something similar to Amanda to honour her. We don’t think Amanda fits with the first name and the second middle name.... it would be Hadley Amanda Sage... at the moment we have Hadley Amelia Sage..

Yes, if you want to honour an Amanda you use the name Amanda. Any derivative of it, or using anything similar is just saying that their name isn’t nice enough for your baby, so not really an honour.

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 18:51

I stated I’m not sure Amanda would fit.. poster Tawdrylocalbrouhaha

Doesn't honouring someone only work if you use the name the person uses themselves. If she goes by Amanda then use that if she uses a nickname why not use that?

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 18:52

Again.. NOT SURE. I have never used a relatives name to honour someone hence the question. Thanks. She goes by Amanda 90% of the time.

Excuse the capitals^

Personally I think the name Hadley Amanda Sage sounds lovely

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 06/06/2018 18:54

Then just use Amanda, it sounds fine with the other names and does the job of honouring her, if you use another name like Amelia then your not honouring her at all.

RavenWings · 06/06/2018 18:54

Honestly, using the name Miranda doesn't say honouring Amanda to me. Hadley Amanda Sage doesn't sound bad imo.

I'd use Amy at a push but tbh it isn't honouring Amanda to me, it's just vaguely similar.

Tonicwaterandgin · 06/06/2018 18:54

I agree that it's only honouring someone if you use their actual name. What about using whatever Amanda's middle name is? Or surname/maiden name?

Emily7708 · 06/06/2018 18:55

Amanda goes as well with Hadley and Sage as Amelia does. Although both are quite masculine.

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 18:56

Her middle name is Leticia... I think Hadley Amanda Sage is growing on me.. if it sounds ok

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 18:57

How is Amanda masculine?

OP posts:
Emily7708 · 06/06/2018 18:59

I meant Hadley and Sage are masculine, Amanda very feminine

sparklepops123 · 06/06/2018 18:59

Amy ?

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 06/06/2018 18:59

I think they meant Hadley and Sage are Masculine.

pollymarie · 06/06/2018 19:03

Thank you all.

If you’re using a name to honour someone then you should use their name or a diminutive that they use. If you’re using a contrived barely connected version then what’s the point?

Hadley Amanda Sage sounds fine anyway

MikeUniformMike · 06/06/2018 20:39

If you are naming somebody after someone else, use their name, not some completely unrelated name that happens to look a bit similar.

Amanda has 'a man' in it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/06/2018 20:40

Hi Polly, how about ;
Hadley Amber Sage
Hadley Amethyst Sage

MikeUniformMike · 06/06/2018 21:11

Hadley just makes me think of Spandau Ballet, Sage makes me think of an accounting package.

bridgetreilly · 06/06/2018 22:25

Not only does using a different name not honour the person, I'd say it actively dishonours them. Either use Amanda, or don't. But don't use something else and say it's in her honour.
