Hi all. I was recommended this website by a friend so bare with this long post, I'm really sorry.

We are having a little girl, who will join brother Jameson Ellis.. we want to name the girl Hadley, to nickname Haddie... now the middle name we've chosen Bear ... I know it may seem very 'Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne' but I don't want it to be that way.. we have fallen in love with the name Hadley Bear! I also worry about what others think... way too much! I know I shouldn't as it's our child at the end of the day and chances of her using her middle name is second to none, only on important occasions/documents.. but I still worry! Other option we have is Calliope 'Callie' Sage... but we do love Hadley Bear. Seems like a lovely combo.. anyway. Let me know what you guys think, if you have any other middle name suggestions for Hadley along the same lines feel free to share! We also have Arabella Nova as backup if all else fails! Or any name combos at all! We like the following first names:

Callie
Hadley
Scarlett

Thank you
AshSmile

Adore Calliope!

Bouncingbelle · 02/06/2018 23:13

Hadley bear sounds like a toy. With a first name like Hadley, I think you would be better going for a more feminine middle name as I would assume Hadley is a boys name.

Scarlett is a name I have always loved and Callie is nice too.

Picknickers · 02/06/2018 23:13

Hadley Bear sounds very masculine to me. However, Callie is gorgeous

BackforGood · 02/06/2018 23:16

Really don't like.
I hear 'Hadley' as a surname and really don't like surnames as first names.
Then 'Bear' is an animal, or a stuffed toy. It really isn't a good thing to call any person, but somehow even worse for a girl.

ashlynmharris · 02/06/2018 23:18

You guys make a very good point... I think it’s settled we will disregard the name! I didn’t think of that way :-)

Really not keen on this fashion for the name ‘bear’, or surnames as first names. I think it will be very dated in the future.
Calliope Sage. Much better.

Jj2431 · 02/06/2018 23:19

Sorry but Hadley Bear is dreadful. I can't imagine her thanking you for that name. Callippe sage wouldn't be my cup of tea but is better than Hadley Bear. Arabella Nova is lovely

ashlynmharris · 02/06/2018 23:19

Thank you Jammycustard :)

Calliope*

ashlynmharris · 02/06/2018 23:21

Thank you all for the feedback, I will now hide this thread as we have our answer to our question! Will post another thread where I will be asking for first and middle names to add to our bucket to take to the hospital with us! :-) thanks
Ash

Hadley is a boy's name Confused

Bear is just awful for both boys & girls, sorry.

I like Calliope Sage, though, I really do.

pieceofpurplesky · 02/06/2018 23:23

Calliope is lovely but it will get pronounced wrong quite often!

IggyAce · 02/06/2018 23:28

Hadley is fine but it needs a feminine middle name. My ds has a surname as his first name but we have him a strong traditional middle name.

InkSnail · 03/06/2018 00:18

Arabella Nova is my favourite.

Belindabauer · 03/06/2018 09:35

How do you pronounce Calliope ?

Yogagirl123 · 03/06/2018 09:42

Perhaps it’s just me OP if you told me you had a child called Hadley Bear I would wrongly assume you had a boy. Bear is very popular name, may that put off in the future? Many congrats on your baby.

flumpybear · 03/06/2018 09:46

She'd be tainted at school 'bare hadley' etc ...
calliope is nice as is Sage - how about sorrel?

flumpybear · 03/06/2018 09:47

Taunted!

TatianaLarina · 03/06/2018 09:51

Calliohpee is how it’s pronounced.

Your names indicate a certain socio-demographic and I think you’ll have problems with people mispronouncing Calliope.

If you like Callie what about something simpler like Calina?

wowfudge · 03/06/2018 09:52

Calliope is pronounced call ee oh pi

The end of the name is pronounced in the same way as in Penelope.

TatianaLarina · 03/06/2018 09:55

Definitely cal not call.

But the i can be pronounced eye or ee.

bridgetreilly · 03/06/2018 09:56

Scarlett is a great choice.

Horseshoe1 · 03/06/2018 10:03

I actually think Hadley is ok and does have history as a female name. I’d go for it, but not bear in the middle!
Hadley Beatrice
Hadley Beth
Hadley Elizabeth
Hadley Clementine

FASH84 · 03/06/2018 15:38

Hadley Beatrice works, Hadley Bea and your NN for her could be Hadley Bear

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/06/2018 16:21

I love Hadley Sage, or Scarlett Nova.
I'd forget bear, it's very masculine, not very pretty.
