Seven weeks to go and our shortlists now look like this...

Girl
Anna Florence
Ellen Frances
Mary Lillian
Celia Florence
Frances Anna
Grace Elizabeth

Boy
Alistair William
Arthur William
Edward Arthur
Laurence Arthur
Jonathan Arthur

Which would you choose?

Like Edward and Laurence.

Much prefer Cecilia to Celia.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 01/06/2018 19:11

Anna or Jonathan

daisypond · 01/06/2018 19:16

I really like all your names. I'm possibly less keen on Ellen than the others, though. Otherwise, I can't choose! Possibly Mary and Alistair.

BB2018 · 01/06/2018 21:31

Same boat, daisy - can’t choose! And the vote is pretty split.

Think we’ll have to wait until he or she arrives and see what they look like!

Anna Florence and Edward Arthur. Lovely, classy, timeless names.

yikesanotherbooboo · 01/06/2018 21:57

You have listed almost all my favourites!
I'm slightly more fond of Frances, Mary and Elizabeth however you arrange them and
Of the boys names I err towards Alistair, Laurence and Jonathan.

MollyHuaCha · 01/06/2018 22:04

All nice names on your list. I would choose Grace Elizabeth and Jonathan Arthur.

starkid · 01/06/2018 22:18

I like Anna most from your girl names, not taken with any of the boy names though sorry

Picknickers · 02/06/2018 00:03

I'd choose Alistair or Mary. Nice list!

maybejane · 02/06/2018 01:11

Anna Florence, Celia Florence and Grace Elizabeth are lovely. The other girls options seem quite dated to me.

I only like Jonathan Arthur out your boys name list.

Sessy19 · 02/06/2018 07:32

Ellen and Jonathan. Cool names 😉

hereandnowtoday · 02/06/2018 07:35

Prefer Alistair spelt as per the correct Gaelic: Alasdair (or at a push Alastair).

It is Scottish Gaelic for Alexander.

MyOtherProfile · 02/06/2018 07:37

Great list although Ellen is very popular right now. There are 3 in my dc class. That might not bother you though?

BB2018 · 02/06/2018 09:18

Yes, we looked at the various spellings of Alistair and liked them all, but thought safest to go with the one used most in England (as we’re not Scottish!). Alistair edges it.

Only 92 babies named Ellen in 2016. Definitely looks like it was more popular in the early Noughties, which explains why you know so many, but on the decline now.

Anna, Ellen, Laurence and Jonathan are the ones I like the best.

bridgetreilly · 02/06/2018 21:03

In order, I like:
Celia Florence
Frances Anna
Ellen Frances
Anna Florence
Mary Lillian
Grace Elizabeth

Boy
Edward Arthur
Jonathan Arthur
Alistair William
Arthur William
Laurence Arthur

chocolatelimesaredelicious · 02/06/2018 21:08

Mary, Celia, Lawrence or Alistair, with any of your middle name suggestions.
I probably wouldn't go with Arthur or Anna,as there seem to be loads around -in South-East anyway. There are 5 Annas and 2 Arthurs in DS's class (reception!)
I think Mary is such a lovely, underused classic for girls.

robotcartrainhat · 02/06/2018 21:24

Celia Florence is beautiful!

And I like Laurence Arthur for a boy
