You asked Since when is Madison a surname?

Sostenueto · 29/05/2018 19:21

Dgd is Madison Ann. Having a queens name is a tradition in our family. Amy Victoria, Faith Elizabeth.

Sostenueto · 29/05/2018 19:22

Yep and you answered Mike need we go on?

daisypond · 29/05/2018 19:32

I don't really like any of them. If you're going to have Madison as a first name (I do think it's slightly odd as it means "Matthew's son", so it seems particularly odd for a girl) you need something more traditional or feminine perhaps for the middle name. Rain is OK in a hippy sort of way. Lexi is OK, but Alexandra is better. Maybe Kenzie is OK as well. So a combination using these?

Sostenueto · 29/05/2018 19:36

Quite honestly imo you don't need middle names. The instances in your life that you would use them is few and far between.

gryffen · 29/05/2018 19:39

How about Madison Grace?

Simplify maybe = more.

Movablefeast · 29/05/2018 19:45

You need to know that there is a lot of snobbery around names on MN OP.

Saturdaycartoon · 29/05/2018 20:48

I like Madison but feel that with the 'n' at the end you need a name that opens it up again after.- with a vowel on the end. Lexi does this - Madison Lexi, but I don't like Lexi that much. As pp said, how about a more traditional, classic name with it? Then you can close it up again at the end with rain.

Kendall works, but Madison Kendall sounds like a department store or engineering firm!

Madison Laura
Madison Laurel
Madison Lara
Madison Zara
Madison Eve
Madison Lina
Madison Nadia
Madison Bronte

Madison Summer Olivia
Madison Isobel Kate
Madison Julia Pearl
Madison Ruby Hannah
Madison Holly Alexa

Madison began as a surname of course. The 'son' at the end is a bit of a giveaway. I believe it has only been used as a name for girls since the 1980s, after the film 'Splash' where the mermaid character chooses her human name by looking at a street sign. So it was originally supposed to be a joke name.

Since then it has been used for many girls, of course, and I'll admit it has a nice sound to it. But probably that's only because it's like an echo of the name Madeleine, which is a real girls name (and lovely).

Not keen on any of them OP sorry but I don’t think you’re going to get much positive feedback on these on MN.
I’m not that keen on Madison but I like your boys’ names and it goes well with them. I’d go for a more traditional middle name for Madison.

AnyaMoondial · 30/05/2018 08:05

Madison Mackenzie Raine is my favourite.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 30/05/2018 09:36

I just can’t get beyond thinking of Ashley Madison 🤭

I am not keen on most of them but for Madison Oakley Grey I would use Rain/Rayne in the order Madison Oakley Rain x

Some suggestions

Madison Kate Rayne/Rain

Madison Willow Grey

Madison Eva Rayne/Rain

Madison Julie Grey

Madison Joanna Rayne/Rain

Ultimately it is up to you

Leigh

I really don't think Madison MacKenzie works.
As previous poster has said, Madison means Matthew's son.
And in Scotland and elsewhere, the surname MacKenzie means son of Kenneth.
This is today, not some time in the past.
Why would you give a lovely baby girl a name that means 'Matthew's son Kenneth's Son'?

florascotia2 · 30/05/2018 17:24

Sorry OP - looking back at my post it sounds impolite. That was not what I intended. I do apologise. It's just that names have meanings, and two names for a girl meaning 'son' did seem to me to be a bit much. But obviously the ultimate choice must be up to you.
