Eliza’s middle name

Icklepickle101 · 28/05/2018 19:30

Any suggestions?

Surname ends in a Y and is quite long so think it needs to be 1 or 2 syllables and not another ‘a’ sounding name.

I’m really overthinking this.

All I’ve got so far is Astrid and DP isn’t 100% sold

Jane is the traditional name that goes with Eliza, either as a separate middle name or with a hyphen. It does flow nicely, so a name that sounds similar maybe?

HeyDolly · 28/05/2018 19:38

Eliza Joy

Astrid is lovely. But I agree with you about choosing something non frilly with one or two syllables. I'd add that it should start and probably end with a consonant (because of the potential elision of e.g. Eliza-r-Alice).

Ruth
Helen
Lucy
Juno

I have an Eliza Dorothy.

Have you any family names you can use?

Icklepickle101 · 28/05/2018 19:43

Dorothy was my great grandmother and I love it but it’s auite similar to our surname so I think it would sound odd.

Strangely Ruth and Helen are family names too but I’m just not keen, they scream middle aged lady to me Blush

Considering Helen is a family name, what about Eliza Helena? Such a gorgeous name.

Eliza Dawn, Eliza Kate and Eliza Jo would also sound lovely.

Eliza Rose? 🌹

DuchyDuke · 29/05/2018 06:57

Eliza suits a traditional or ‘classic’ name. Jane, May, Rose are the best probably

TheDowagerCuntess · 29/05/2018 07:39

I think the middle name needs to begin with a consonant - Eliza Astrid feels awkward to say.

Mrs has the right idea.

Not May, not Rose - you can do better than the usual default, 'filler' middle names.

Flamingosnbears · 29/05/2018 07:49

Eliza Jane gets my vote.
