Angelica is from Hamilton!
too frilly for my tastes. nice for a pet fancy mouse

lottiegarbanzo · 28/05/2018 07:42

Angelica is a plant. Sometimes crystallised for use as a cake decoration. Though I think of Angelica Huston. They're all botanical names. There are many other botanical names to choose from.

Can you imagine an adult woman walking into your workplace and introducing herself as Meadow? I might imagine it referred to where she was conceived. Likewise 'roll me over in the clover'. Ok, that wouldn't be most people's first point of reference but, if I was named Clover I'd change my name to Chloe, Clodagh or Clara pretty fast.

Peach2018 · 28/05/2018 13:17

Love blossom!

Pompom42 · 28/05/2018 13:21

I knew a girl across the street growing up her real name was Clover but everyone called her Clo so people thought her actual name was Chloe.
I quite like Blossom. There was a blossom on eastenders

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 28/05/2018 13:33

When we named our babies I chose names that would work whether they grew up to be a rock star or a high court judge. I can imagine a judge called Angelica but not one called Blossom. Blossom is an adorable name for a little girl but not sure it works for an adult.

Marioki · 28/05/2018 19:58

I love Clover. I immediately thought of the What Katy Did books.
Blossom is quite nice but a little bit "My Little Pony". I'm not keen on Meadow or Angelica.

PuppetOnAString · 29/05/2018 13:44

I know siblings Blossom and Meadow, I’m not convinced by the names. They sound like you’re naming cows.

MatildaLovesBooks · 29/05/2018 13:51

Angelica is very different from the other three. They’re not your standard, popular names but they’re not offensive. And they make a change from the Amelias and Lilys. Go for whatever you love.

BasicBetty · 29/05/2018 13:59

I'm afraid I don't like any of them - sorry Blush

FanFckingTastic · 29/05/2018 14:08

It's your choice OP! Personally, I wouldn't choose any of them as I think that they don't work well later in life. As a baby or little girl then these names might seem sweet but imagine a Doctor Blossom, a Judge Clover, or a Prime Minister Meadow? I think that these kind of names will really date too, so will be popular for the next few years and then considered really naff. Just my opinion though. Good luck with whatever you decide!

CloudCaptain · 29/05/2018 14:09

Only like Blossom I'm afraid, and I'm all for unusual names. (quite like Rocket ala Jamie Oliver) Blush
How about Peony, Delphinium/ Delphine, Primrose, Dahlia, Zinnia, Jasmine, Clementine, Poppy, Marigold...

Abetes · 29/05/2018 14:11

Sorry - they sound like cows or ponies.

JessieMcJessie · 29/05/2018 14:12

Marigold is a fab retro girl’s name.

If the ones that you chose I think that Angelica is nice and will become a lot more mainstream because of Hamilton.

BewareOfDragons · 29/05/2018 14:19

I'd go with some alternative suggestions on here, OP. The three of the four you've listed aren't great for women and all girls grow up to be women. Angelica is the only actual name.

Nikephorus · 29/05/2018 14:23

What is it with this current (Mumsnet) desire to name your children after livestock? What next - dogs' names? 'Shall I call my son Fido or Patch?'

robotcartrainhat · 29/05/2018 14:31

Did no one used to watch 'Blossom'? with Mayim Bialik in? I used to love that program. She was a teenager called Blossom. Was on in the 90s so certainly been in use as a name since then!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 29/05/2018 14:55

I actually know a Blossom, two Autumns, a couple of Saffrons, a Meadow, a Willow and a few other names of that type.

I never think 'oh, nice name.' I tend to think, 'ah right. You wanted one of those names.' Especially when the children have siblings like River, Summer, etc....and it's a theme.

They're not terrible names at all. They're all nice words. But they never feel like 'proper' names to me. They sound like the parents making a whimsical, wispy statement of nature-lovin' wispiness, more than anything else.

LionAllMessy · 29/05/2018 15:01

Meadow!

Glumglowworm · 29/05/2018 18:59

Definitely Angelica

Agree with PP that the others sound like cows, sorry (if you’re naming a cow I’d still go for Angelica to be different)

GinIsIn · 29/05/2018 19:01

Is this definitely for a human...?

midsomermurderess · 29/05/2018 19:13

I agree that, apart from Angelica, they have a rather bovine ring to them.

HeyOverHereYo · 29/05/2018 20:31

Angelica!

Then if you have two more, you can name them Eliza and Peggy. ;D

But seriously, Angelica is by far my favorite. Meadow would be second. (Paul Walker named his daughter Meadow, btw.) Clover sounds like the stage name for an exotic dancer, and Blossom reminds one of a Power Puff Girl and the aforementioned sitcom character.

rainingcatsanddog · 29/05/2018 20:45

The first 3 sound like cows. My fave nature names would include Dawn, Nova, Astrid, Heather, Willow, Autumn, Clementine, Holly, Hazel.

jamsyoink · 30/05/2018 22:18

Blossom

sockunicorn · 30/05/2018 22:18

meadow :)
